Dinah's on "D" Street

Well it is just about time to lock the door for the final time and we do so with heavy hearts. I remember the day we ordered a book on how to run a used bookstore like it was yesterday, and here we are almost 5 years later having to say good bye. There certainly are too many people to try and thank for assisting in our journey but first and foremost there are a few that were with us from the very beginning: Ron Gross (Dinah's father) for coming out of retirment and spending a few weeks with us in designing and helping build all the shelves. Brian Youtz along with his late father Don Youtz were instrumental in the actul building process. Also we want to say that we would have never met Brian and Don if it were not for the late Mike Brown.

Now for you, the customers and authors, we will not even begin to name names here but each one of you are what made the bookstore such a fun place to work. The relationships will last along with the memories for a lifetime. We have seen good times and bad times but the most important thing is we can sit back and laugh and reminisce about the times spent in the store.

So for the final time we say good bye from 320 D St., but by no means have you seen the last of us. If you just feel the need to say hello, you can find us at pretty much all the festivals around the Yuba Sutter area selling kettle corn.

Thanks for the memories.

Just like all books, there is a final chapter and today is the final chapter for our bookstore. The turnout today has been more than we expected and people have been leaving the store with several bags of books for $4.00 each. Some customer have left with their books only to return in search of more books. My guess is that each bag holds somewhere close to 20 books so you are certain to find something you like.

Don't wait to long as today is the day we close the book for good. Stop in and be part of the final chapter.

This article right here is the exact reason we struggled with closing the store. It's the relationships like the one we have with Larry that we will miss the most. The friendships we have made will last long after the store and that is the most important part of being in business. Just as the local authors have thanked us, we will be forever greatful for including our little bookstore in their journey of writing books.
