Plot Twist Cafe aims to support our Maryville community as much as we can, from programs like our free Kids' Book Club to university student org fundraisers.

One way we are hoping to continue this mission is by helping carry books required for university classes, books for reading challenges hosted by our wonderful teachers, and everything in between.

Professors and teachers, we would love to order in a few copies of books you will be teaching to offer to students at a 15% discount. If you think this would be beneficial to your classes, please reach out either via our email or Facebook messenger, and we can get some books ordered before school starts back up!

Hey all! We've spent the day updating our website. Some of it is fun, like adding our Bookshop link to the home page, but most of it is informational.

Here are the key takeaways (you can read a more in-depth breakdown on the FAQ page):

1. As mentioned before, our Bookshop link and how to support us while shopping online have been added to our website! We are very excited to be able to offer this medium, and hope to have an audiobook option soon as well.

2. The Used Book FAQ has been updated slightly. The main thing to note there is that we no longer take drop off donations. We MUST be informed in advance if you plan to bring books by, even if you have brought books before.

For a couple of months now, we have been on and off dealing with more books than we can store, as well as books that we simply cannot sell. Books with very outdated info. Books missing entire covers. The FAQ details what types of books we are looking for, as well as what we are NOT looking for. While we appreciate every book donation we get, we are not a recycling facility either, and sometimes we have been made to feel that way with books that are completely falling apart or covered in sauce.

*This is not targeted at any individual who has brought us books! It is a cumulative problem that has left us with almost no storage space.

3. We have added a Vendor FAQ and an Authors and Artists FAQ! These detail the processes for requesting to be a vendor and for local (and non-local) authors who wish to have books at PTC.

4. The Contact and FAQ page in general now has details on what types of community collaborations we are open to (just about anything!) and how to get a hold of us about those. In general, we prefer an email explaining who you are/ what organization you are from, and what you are wanting our collaboration to look like. We get a lot of requests, so it helps to include as much info as possible!

Thank you all for helping us grow into our business and adapt where we need to. I have learned a ton in the seven months we've been open, and am constantly learning more.

Our next local author features are all kids’ books!

God’s Green Earth is Something to Fight For is a beautiful, faith-based introduction to environmentalism.

Country Colors, City Colors is an imaginative retelling of the classic fable, complete with vibrant illustrations.

Hope Sees Her Condor is a touching story of a girl’s birdwatching journey with her grandfather.

Tater Tot Saves Woodland Pixies is a whimsical, early-level chapter book about a boy’s magical experiences in his garden, and it has a companion picture book to go along with it—Tate Helps Woodland Creatures!

Plot Twist Cafe is now on Bookshop.org!

Bookshop is a platform that sells a huge variety of titles, usually matching low Amazon costs. But instead of supporting a large corporation, each sale gives back to independent bookstores.

Plot Twist Cafe officially joining means that you can shop our bookstore favorites online (we are still building our lists, but many of them are live), as well as everything else available through Bookshop. You simply click “choose a bookstore” and select PTC from the map. Every sale through Bookshop gives your selected bookstore a standard sales cut and ships directly to you!

Our next batch of local author features are all from the romance genre!

Thief is a dark romantasy with intricate worldbuilding and a sizzling second chance romance.

Javawocky is a cozy, sapphic romance set against the backdrop of a whimsical, English coffee shop.

His Unexpected is a slow-burn demon romance saga set in a world of high fashion and organized crime.

In The Eye of the Beholder is a Beauty and the Beast inspired romance with a sweet trust-building arc.
