Ooh baby, High Season Market is just a blink of an eye away. I was welcomed so warmly last summer after only having launched my website a few weeks prior and the crew there took a real gamble that I had my ducks in a row. I did not, but somehow pulled it together with a lot of help!
This year I am far more prepared and will have a slew of new flavors and other items, so come say hi and get familiar with all the other amazingly talented people at this incredible market! Also Port Clyde is so cute, highly suggest you make a weekend out of it!

And yes, this is the salt that’s getting packed up for the market and it’s gorgeous and flaky and just perfect.

60 pounds seems like it would be a big collection day, but surprisingly enough, it’s really not. It takes a good three to four weeks for the salt to be ready to collect and I usually get around 250-300 pounds each harvest. That’s if all goes accordingly

I’m always amazed how the crystals form, it truly is a work of art made by Mother Nature herself

Middle of July already. It’s been an adventure. One small table greenhouse was collected, holding out for the others. Been collecting all the berries on the island. Trying to not let time move too quickly

I’ve been feeling less than inspired these days if I’m being honest. My little seal friend showed up for the first time this summer and it was just what I needed. Our little selkie’s name is Pop-up
Oh, there is also ocean water becoming salt, somewhere on the island.

There is something pretty special about the way this salt is made. The ocean water is collected a stones throw away from where it forms. I like that I don’t have to truck my ocean water around.
I love knowing and seeing what’s happening in the ocean before it goes into my greenhouse. The little seals, the occasional whale, the few lobster boats that pass by

This is a little of what summer on the island looks like for us right now
Warm sun, salt collections, ocean breeze, long and slow days

I harvested my first collection of the season and I am always captivated by the different formations the salt crystals take on
