Vintage Retro Revival

Well, here's something I never thought I'd be posting... I wrote a book! Haha.

I've spent years buying, selling, collecting, and researching antiques and just about every oddball item you can imagine, so I figured why not put some of what I've learned into a book?

It's called **Antiques and Collectibles for the Modern Reseller**, and it covers everything from identifying old stuff and figuring out what it's worth to finding inventory, researching the market, and selling for a profit.

I've learned a lot over the years, plenty of it the hard way, and I'm still learning something new every day. That's part of what makes this business so much fun. You truly never know what you're going to come across next!

Anyway, it's officially available on Amazon! Pretty neat seeing my name on an actual book. Haha.

If you're into antiques, collectibles, auctions, estate sales, or reselling, check it out! And if you wouldn't mind sharing this post, I'd really appreciate it!

Curious what’s been selling today at Vintage Retro Revival? Here are just a few of the items heading out the door!

One thing I’ve REALLY noticed lately... old digital cameras are making a comeback!

Apparently we’re going backwards. No more pulling out the iPhone, taking 14 pictures, editing them, adding a filter and deciding which one is perfect. We’re going back to how we used to do it... take 100 random pictures on the digital camera throughout the night, forget half of them even happened, then look through them later! Haha

And who remembers disposable cameras? You had no idea if the picture was blurry, somebody’s eyes were closed, or your finger covered half the lens. No zoom, no editing, no deleting it and trying again. What you snapped was what you got... and then you had to wait to get the pictures developed to see what you actually took!

Those older digital cameras that have been sitting forgotten in drawers for years are getting attention again, so don’t automatically assume nobody wants them.

And yes... even an EMPTY AMMO BOX sold today. There really are collectors out there for just about everything!

That’s one of my favorite parts of doing this. Something that looks like ordinary old stuff to one person might be exactly what somebody else has been searching for.

So before you throw it away, donate it, or let it sit in the basement for another 20 years... get ahold of me! You might be surprised what some of that stuff is worth.

Vintage Retro Revival handles the research, pictures, listings, buyer questions, payment, packing, shipping and the rest, helping turn the stuff you’re no longer using into money in your pocket.

Have something sitting around you’re curious about? Send me a message and some pictures!

Curious what sold last night at Vintage Retro Revival?

It was definitely a little bit of everything. That’s one of my favorite parts of this business—you truly never know what someone out there is looking for.

A few of the items heading out included an older copy of How to Win Friends and Influence People, a 1949 National Education Association Journal, a vintage Sick Call Crucifix, vintage Avon after shave, and even a John Deere StarFire GPS receiver.

And YES...I know there are plenty of farmers around here who probably have old farm equipment, parts, electronics, and accessories collecting dust in barns and shops.

There is still a market for used farm equipment and parts.

As you farmers already know, brand-new equipment can get expensive fast. So why not help out another farmer, especially a smaller operation looking for a deal, and turn something you are no longer using into money at the same time?

Old GPS equipment, monitors, controllers, tractor parts, implements, manuals, signs, tools...if it is sitting around collecting dust, don’t automatically assume nobody wants it.

Let’s get that stuff out of the barn, in front of buyers across the country, and SOLD.

And as last night proves, it does not have to be farm equipment either.

Old stuff sells. Weird stuff sells. Stuff you completely forgot you owned sells.

Take a look around. You might be surprised by what you have.

💙 THE FUNDS HAVE OFFICIALLY BEEN DROPPED OFF! 💙
That $1,134.00 is now in the hands of The Salvation Army Mattoon, IL and they can put it to great work helping our neighbors!
We loved seeing their post after receiving the donation. They shared that this funding will make a massive difference in the number of meals they can provide to neighbors in need, helping keep their shelves stocked and local families fed.
That right there is why we do this. ❤️
Every dollar that went into our Donation Box, along with the support of our amazing matching community partners, turned into $1,134 that will now help put food on tables right here in our area.
We can't thank everyone enough who donated, shared our posts, supported the store, and helped make this possible.
YOU did this, Charleston!

And remember, our Monthly Donation Box is ALWAYS available inside Charleston Discount Grocery! Anyone can stop in and drop a donation in the box. Each month we select a local organization or cause, and with the help of our customers and community partners, those dollars can really add up!
No donation is too small. As this $1,134 proves, when our community comes together, a few dollars here and there can turn into something pretty incredible.

I feel like everyone needs to see the back of a thrift store at least once.

Because THIS is why I thrift.

Everything you’re looking for probably already exists. The clothes. The dishes. The picture frames. The furniture. The toys. The kitchen stuff. The weird little thing you’ve had on your wishlist for six months.

Someone already bought it. Someone already used it. And eventually, a lot of it ends up here.

This is the back of ONE thrift store. Just ONE. Look at how much stuff is waiting to be sorted and given another chance.

We live in a world that constantly convinces us we need the newest version of everything. New clothes every season. New decor every trend. New furniture because the internet decided our old furniture isn’t cute anymore.

Meanwhile, there are literal mountains of perfectly good things that already exist.

And maybe that’s why thrifting has completely changed the way I shop. I don’t automatically think “where can I buy this?” anymore.

I think, “I bet this already exists somewhere. I just have to find it.”

And honestly? The waiting makes finally finding it SO much better. 🥹

There is already enough stuff in this world. Give the old stuff another chance before we make more.
