OUR HISTORY

The Friendship House Mission & Thrift Shop, a benevolence ministry sponsored by Maud Methodist Church, was organized in 1976 to help meet the physical and spiritual needs of those who were out of work, physically disabled or low income for a variety of reasons and circumstances. With the help of volunteers, it reaches out to many families from many communities every week. Friendship H

ouse was started as the result of the Women’s Group of Maud MC when it noticed after a special outreach event that needs of the community were greater than just one event can help. The Thrift Shop is an important ministry for the people of Maud and its surrounding areas, as it is sponsored, supported, and run by members, students, local volunteers and employees. Our hope is that the Thrift Shop will provide a vehicle for mission outreach in our neighborhood and surrounding area, whereby Maud can interact with, learn from, and share the gospel message with the community. If nothing else, it’s a place where we can say “we care about you.”
