Please help us congratulate our August 2026 Vendor of the Month, SugarMama Designs. When asked about their business, this is what Karen had to say:

Tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in making you items. What inspired you to begin?
My inspiration happened after my Mom passed away. I held onto her keys on her keychain. I didn’t know what to do with them, but I knew I couldn’t throw them away. Then, I decided to bling them up so I could wear them! I was encouraged to make more for friends and family. Then my husband started cutting old silverware that I decorated. The rest, they say, is history! I keep trying new things. Painting glassware, decorating mirrors and other things. I’m a work in progress!

What is your favorite piece that you’re currently offering in the store? What makes it special to you?
I’m really enjoying painting glassware for weddings. Whether it’s for the bridesmaids for gifts, or the toasting goblets for the couple! It’s just a great outlet for my creative and romantic side!

How do you choose the items you create?
I mostly create what I’m interested in at that moment, and what I think other people will enjoy. I really like to create special orders for people as well.

What’s the most interesting feedback you’ve received from a customer about your products?
At Christmas time, I usually leave a pair of Snowman earrings for my server. I love when it’s later in the year and they remember me. I always feel honored.

What’s one fun or surprising fact about your business or your crafting/curating process that most people wouldn’t know?
That I’m a retired Nursing Home Administrator. A very stressful vocation!

Anything else you would like us to know or include in the bio?
I love Jesus! I’m madly in love with my husband (26 years!). And I want to keep learning!
