Live Edge Walnut. Very similar to the Locust I made earlier but Locust is more closely related to a pea plant than a Walnut tree. Two seperate species that decided being dense and oily was a good survival strategy.

Whenever my back stops hurting, (why is wood so heavy?) I'm super excited to make some big Cherry and Walnut bowls and jewelry boxes. Look for these on my stand late summer/early fall.

Now that it's a bowl, I'll use a friction hold called a "Jam Chuck" to remove the tenon that connected the blank to the lathe. Almost done.
