C&M Acres Alpacas and Alpaca Products We operate a fiber processing mill and raise alpacas in central Iowa. We offer animals for sale, breeding, etc.

We can process the fiber from most species of animals and make a wide variety of products for you. From roving, batts, cored yarn and yarn to rugs, blankets, saddle pads, animal coats, and a wide variety of other products. We have a variety of suri and huacaya alpacas on the farm.

We let all the moms and babies together for the first time this morning. Crias range from a few days old to almost two months old.

Other than a brief period of confusion of who belonged to who it was one of the most settled families introductions we have done.

As of today, we finally have all our cria on the ground and healthy. This year has been one of the most colorful batch of cria we have had.

4 boys, 3 girls.

Our cria so far this year. All have been born early but healthy.

The dark brown(Bullwinkle), the fancy brown/white(Norman) and the light grey(Charlie) are all males. The mostly white with brown spots on head, feet and side is the only female(Lucy) so far.

Still waiting on 3 females to deliver.

Monday was our annual shearing day.

Thank you to Brent Winslow on his expertise in shearing. Thanks to Bonnie and Mark, Joel, Peyton, Russ, Suzie and Beth.

The day went very smoothly and as you can see from the before and after pictures some of the herd looks very different after their spa day!

From approx 32 lbs of suri fiber blended with huacaya alpaca to 58,000 yards of sport weight yarn to 28 lap throws. Sized approx 40”x60” and 40”x72”.

Various patterns from quite intricate to linear and a variety in between.

The herds were enjoying the 40+ degree weather over the last few days. The only thing that would have made them happier was sunshine but they weren’t complaining!

A partial order almost ready to ship.

33 wraps (shawls) in natural colors. Approx 19x68. Mostly linear patterns used

35 scarves with dyed colors. Approx 8x60. Some are color and natural color. Some are same dye over white and fawn yarn. Some are all dyed on white fiber. A wide variety of weave patterns.

Something off the loom for our store. I didn’t have any client fiber ready for weaving so decided to do something fun for the evening.

Roughly 8”x60” dyed alpaca fiber.

$75 each if anyone looking for a colorful Christmas present.

This coming week is the American Alpaca Showcase at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

We will be assisting with vet check in on Thursday like we have in the past and will be collecting fiber for processing at that time.

If you have fiber you want processed and are coming to the show or know someone that is, bring the fiber with you to save shipping.

Two client suri alpaca fleeces, beige and rose grey. We added some black to part of the beige to make more color variety and contrast.

Made onto yarn and 16 woven scarves approx 8x60. 5 different weaving patterns.
