We’re ONE step closer to opening our doors! 📚🍷

Most of you probably already know Eddie, and today we’re extra proud to share that we received a 100 on our Health Department inspection! 🎉🙌

Now we’re just waiting on our state liquor license and the arrival of NEW BOOKS… and then it’s time to turn the page and welcome you back to Story on the Square! 💙📖

The next chapter is almost here, McDonough. We cannot wait to open these doors again! 🥂📚

We’re busy placing book orders and have SO many incredible new releases headed to the shelves at Story on the Square… but we might be most excited about these!

ACOTAR 6 & 7 titles AND covers have officially been revealed and we are already counting down! 💃🔥

So we have an important question…

How would y’all feel about an ACOTAR MIDNIGHT RELEASE PARTY?!

Think themed drinks, treats, giveaways, costumes, and an entire bookstore full of people who completely understand why we’re emotionally invested in fictional fae men. 😂

Would you come?! Let us know because we may need to start planning…

📚A New Chapter begins 📚

After so many meaningful years, countless books, special events, familiar faces, and wonderful memories, we are honored to share the next chapter of Story on the Square.

We are proud to announce Aubrey Kekiwi as the new owner of Story on the Square.

Aubrey is a nurse, mom, local entrepreneur, and business owner who has built her life around serving others and investing in this community. She leads with heart, works with excellence, and truly understands how special this place is.

What means the most to us is knowing that Aubrey isn’t coming in to erase the story that’s already been written. She is honored to carry the torch, preserve what our community loves, and build thoughtfully upon the foundation that has been created here.

Story on the Square will remain a bookstore and event space, a place for books, connection, conversation, celebrations, and community.

Aubrey has already begun placing new book orders and working behind the scenes to prepare for reopening. Pending final local licensing and approvals, she hopes to open the doors again within the next few weeks.

Passing something you love into new hands is never a small thing, and we couldn’t be more excited to see Aubrey write the next pages of this story.

Please help us welcome her, support her, and celebrate this beautiful new chapter for Story on the Square. ❤️📖

The story isn’t ending. We’re simply turning the page.

We are thrilled to announce Story on the Square has been saved! We are under contract with the perfect buyer who will keep the store open under the same name. Our shelves will remain stocked, and familiar faces will keep on selling you books and drinks. We will be taking a brief pause after July 19th for a smooth transition, but look forward to welcoming you back for a grand re-opening! We can't wait to start this new chapter with you!
With so much McDonough love,
David and Stephanie
