Sometimes plants don't show out until late summer when the nursery is slowest. But we don't want you to miss out on seeing them. Pictured are American Beauty Berry, Mountain Mint and Shampoo Ginger Lily.

Mountain Mint-The Penn State Southeast Agricultural Research and Extension Center conducted a study from 2012 through 2015, comparing 86 species and cultivars of native plants known for their attractiveness to pollinators. Clustered mountain mint (Pycnanthemum muticum) was determined to have the most pollinator visits and attracted the most diverse group of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, wasps, syrphid, and tachinid flies.

American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana)-is a unique native shrub with beautiful purple berries. Berries can be used to make jelly and jam, they are also attractive to birds. The leaves have insect repellant qualities when crushed.

Shampoo ginger lily is a tropical plant that must be overwintered indoors or in a greenhouse. It put up distinct cones that produce a soapy type of liquid that is used in some haircare products.
