I have a confession…

Every time someone asks me to create a portrait of their horse, I sit there for a minute before I ever pick up a brush.

Not because I don’t know where to start.

But because I know I’m not just creating a portrait.

I’m holding someone’s best friend.
Someone’s heart horse.
Someone’s once-in-a-lifetime partner.
Sometimes… someone’s final goodbye.

That’s a responsibility I never take lightly.

This portrait of “Never Be Lazy” (Tulsa) isn’t just Tulsa.

It’s every sunrise ride.
Every show.
Every quiet moment in the barn.
Every nicker that made someone smile after the hardest day.

That’s what I try to preserve.

Not perfection.

Connection.
