There’s a game that travels. We call it tavla; cross a border or two and it answers to other names — but the clatter of the dice sounds the same in every language. Today two friends visiting from Chicago settled in with a board and two cups of Turkish coffee, and reminded us why we opened these doors: not to sell a thing, but to make a place where a shared afternoon feels a little like home — wherever home happens to be. Thank you, Anna and Caroline, for letting us capture it.

🌎 The world is a beautiful place, and one of the things that makes McKinney special is the people who bring a little piece of their world here.

McKinney Matters presents: House of Motifs. 🇹🇷❤️🇺🇸

Mustafa has brought a piece of Türkiye to Historic Downtown McKinney through House of Motifs, featuring beautiful handcrafted textiles, ceramics, home décor and more, all inspired by generations of Turkish culture and craftsmanship.

It’s more than a store. It’s a chance to experience another culture, meet a neighbor, and be reminded that the things that make us different can also make our community a whole lot more interesting.

That’s McKinney. ❤️

🧿 A little invitation from your neighbors on the square.

Every year the McKinney Chamber of Commerce celebrates the businesses that make this town what it is — and this year House Of Motifs is on the ballot for Best Specialty Retail Store in the 2026 Best of McKinney.

If you've wandered in, you know we're not quite like anywhere else downtown: a shop full of handmade Turkish and Mediterranean ceramics, textiles, and gifts, each one with a story behind it. We've poured a lot of love into bringing something genuinely different to the square, and a nod from our own community would mean the world. 💛
