Paint Retreat 2026 – Nevada 🎨🍷

I drove 1,034 miles to Fernley, Nevada… because apparently that’s what you do when paint retreat strangers become your favorite people. 😂

Back in the spring of 2023, we were complete strangers sharing an Airbnb in Sedalia, Missouri. Fast forward to today, and somehow we’ve become a family that paints together, laughs until we cry, enables each other’s craft supply addictions, and convinces ourselves that one more wine slushie is always a great idea. 🍷❄️

We’re scattered all across the U.S., but every year we pick a new place and make it happen. We are missing a couple of our girls this time, but thank goodness for FaceTime and Messenger—they still get to witness at least some of our chaos.

Moral of the story: Find your people. The ones who cheer you on, laugh at your terrible jokes, never judge your growing stash of craft supplies, and will gladly drive (or fly!) across the country just to spend a few days creating together.

Now the countdown begins…

Paint Retreat 2027 – Iowa! 🌽🎨

Where we’ve painted our way across America:
🎨 2026 – Fernley, Nevada
🎨 2025 – Wichita, Kansas
🎨 2024 – Cole Camp, Missouri
🎨 2023 – Cole Camp, Missouri

Same friends. Different state. Same questionable decisions. 😂❤️

🪎Breaking news from the treasure front!🪎
After an exhaustive search of all my 'brilliant' hiding spots… the ones that I can remember anyway🤦‍♀️, I’ve come to the conclusion that all treasures have been found!😊
Sixteen out of the 25 treasure kits were reported to The Busy Brush. A few of those reports even included pictures of some cute and handsome hunters! Thank you for taking the time to report to the treasure front and THANKS again for participating!

I think it’s safe to say that the July 4th treasure hunt at the park was a success! Thanks to the hunters that reported your treasure kit number. If you haven’t had a chance to report yet, just leave me a comment. I’ll check my treasure hiding places this evening to see if they were all found. I’ll definitely be doing more activities like this, so make sure you have your notifications turned on so you’ll be ready for the next great treasure hunt!

Greetings, treasure hunters! Today, I won't be at Meade City Park, but fear not! The studio's spirit will be there, much like a ghost at a family reunion. 🎉 I've hidden 25 treasure craft kits around the park, and I can’t wait to see how many brave souls will embark on this epic hunt! Will you be the lucky few to find them, or will they remain the best-kept secret since the last cookie jar? 🤔

I’m hoping the little adventurers will snag them, but let’s be real—only a handful of you will actually see this post. So, if you find one, do a happy dance and let us know how many treasures you unearthed!
Please comment # found on this post!😊

Happy treasure hunting and an explosive Independence Day! 🎆🇺🇸 Let’s make some memories (and maybe a little mischief)!"

The studio repairs are complete… so what’s next?

Fair warning: long post ahead.

When the storm hit back in August and damaged the studio, I honestly had no idea how long repairs would take or when I’d be able to reopen. And to be completely transparent, it ended up being a break I didn’t know I needed, at exactly the right time.

Life looks a lot different now than it did when I started this journey in October 2019. I’ve moved the studio twice, I now have four grandkids (all four and under!), and I help out on the farm. I’ve truly enjoyed stepping back for a bit.

That being said… just because the doors were closed doesn’t mean the paint stopped. While the studio paused open paint days and private parties, SO many paint kits still made their way out into the world. From a pumpkin patch and a volleyball team, to birthday parties, holiday gatherings, and even a recent order of 50 kits delivered to a business in Meade… you all kept the creativity going.

And for that—thank you. Truly.
Canvas kits are such a fun way to paint with family and friends… anytime, anywhere.

So what’s next?

It’s already May (how?!)—school’s about to be out, and summer is right around the corner. As always, the studio will be closed for the summer. (Let’s be honest… without AC, it turns into a full-on sauna in there anyway 😅) and I’ve always been closed for the summer.

But I haven’t just been relaxing—I’ve been planning.

This fall, The Busy Brush will be shifting into more of a DIY Arts & Crafts studio with scheduled workshops you can sign up for. Think mosaics, crushed glass, wood signs, and more. There will be options for both adults and kids, and I’m really excited about where this is headed.

Don’t worry, canvas kits aren’t going anywhere. I’m working on stocking the front foyer with those, along with ceramic kits, fun kids projects, and other creative goodies.

In the meantime, I’ve been back in the studio cleaning, rearranging (shocking, I know 😂), and giving the space a cozier, more homey feel.

A couple quick things:

• I’m on the hunt for some comfy, gently-used chairs so if you’ve got any you’re ready to part with (and they’re budget-friendly), let me know!

• The Jigsaw Junction is officially back! There are now 300+ puzzles available to check out. Huge thank you to everyone who continues to donate—you’re keeping a lot of families busy and happy.

More details to come soon… but for now, just know I’m excited, refreshed, and ready for what’s next!💛
Again, Thank You all so much for supporting my small business! ~ Resí

And thanks to Meade County News for the pictures and article in the paper!
