Virgo Moon was started as a simple and sweet way to facilitate a deeper connection to oneself and the cosmos. herbs are grown and a mile away from the berry farm & bee hives where the berries, peaches & honey are sourced. Jilly grows, harvests and forages as much as she can during the summer months and stores all ingredients with care - once the Virgo Moon reserves are depleted, it is gone until next harvest! Each recipe was formulated over the years by the owner & operator, Jilly, a biologist, artist, astrologer & herbalist who draws inspiration not only from the local flora & fauna and the orbit of the planets, but also from the 19th century apothecaries and drugstore soda fountains - back when the remedies were preserved in sugar ~ at Virgo Moon, a spoonful of sugar helps the wisdom of the cosmos go down. Since Jilly started selling her creations online in 2017, she has included astrological insight with every order - information on Moon phases, the current cosmic weather and other helpful mini guides for cosmic alignment. I always do a happy dance after putting the finishing touches on the (vegan) Coconut Caramels because they are the most time-consuming candy I make. The rest of the week feels like a breeze after I sprinkle that blend of Maine sea salt & coconut flakes on top of them. 😅💞✨🌴🥥

Today is Belladonna’s 2nd Birthday! Born the day after Moon-Lollipop Day! 🌙✨💖

One of her favorite things to do is helping me drop off your packages to the Post Office. As soon as she hears me tear the labels off the printer, she immediately wakes up from her nap and jumps to her feet. And if I don’t stand up with her and start heading towards the door, she gets very annoyed with me and will start yawning. She knows the packages gotta get out the door and she can be quite the micromanager about it. Her Moon is in Capricorn…

Her least favorite thing is working past 6 pm. That is a big no-no. If I’m still in the office at 6 pm, she starts huffing, puffing and puts her head on my lap. She’ll give me her best ultra-cute sad puppy look. It’s all very dramatic. Her Venus and Mercury are in Leo…

Her favorite herbs are Chamomile, Catnip and Marshmallow roots. She becomes a marshmallow root monster when I’m digging them up—she’ll rip them out of my hand and gobble them. Her Sun is at the anaretic degree of Cancer…she has an extra sensitive stomach so she loves anything that soothes her.

She has become the heart of Virgo Moon these past 22 months. She keeps us grounded and has helped us connect more with our local community—she is li’l miss popular, and she acts like the Mayor of Mechanic Falls whenever she goes out, greeting everyone and spreading lots of love. Everyone loves Belladonna. We’re so grateful we get to take care of her. ❤️

Today is National Moon Day & National Lollipop Day. When I discovered this synchronicity years ago, I made July 20th the unofficial birthday of Virgo Moon*.

I mean, what are the chances these two National days fall on the same day? It felt like a sign from the Universe that what I’m doing–aligning Plants and Planets in sugar on a stick–made cosmic sense.

Today is also the halfway point of the Jupiter-Pluto cycle that began on November 12, 2020; meaning, Jupiter has come into an exact opposition with Pluto. This is a Big Deal transit, so I figured I should have a celebration that matches that energy.

(Totally wild that the Moon was at 18° Libra at the beginning of this Jupiter-Pluto cycle, because that’s exactly where it will be at the halfway point of their cycle! 🤯)

It feels weird making a post about candy right now.

My heart has been aching for the family of Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero, on top of already aching for the thousands of people who have had their loved ones prematurely and savagely removed from their lives by the policies of the current administration.

My heart aches, but my head is on fire with pure rage. My usual coping mechanisms haven’t been working, and that’s a good thing because I shouldn’t just be coping right now, I should be activated and fighting for a better world.

None of this makes sense. We’re being robbed, abused, killed and gaslit by those in the highest offices and I still see people supporting their actions. I can understand being hurt and unintentionally hurting someone else, but I will never understand intentional cruelty and those who find joy in another’s suffering.

You can never convince me that someone deserves to die or live in cage because they crossed an imaginary line on a map. Or because they moved in a direction that you didn’t want them to go. Or because they hurt your feelings by holding a mirror up to your face. There’s too many people out there who feel entitled to control the actions of others.

Why can’t we allow people to just live? Why can’t we have discussions when what you do hurts me? Why can’t we allow others to be vulnerable, to be in need of help, and sanctuary? Why do we need to bring unnecessary force and violence into every little thing???

I don’t like how jaded we’ve all become— I’ve seen so much injustice just within small communities that I’ve put my own heart in a cage as a form of self-preservation. And I know I’m not alone. I know it may be a part of the Pluto in Scorpio generation’s evolution; we’ve got to learn what’s worth holding onto and to be selective of what we choose to walk through fire for; but we can’t become so cynical that we stop believing a better world is possible and that our own individual actions don’t matter…because they do. Every time you choose to be kind, to give grace, and be mindful of the impact you leave behind, you’re bringing the world back into balance.
