📰: Maryland’s 2025 Archery Deer Season Opens September 5

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will open the archery hunting season for white-tailed and sika deer on Sept. 5. The season runs through Jan. 31, 2026 with several breaks for muzzleloader and fi****ms season. In addition, the fourth annual Primitive Deer Hunt Days take place Feb. 2 – 4, 2026. Maryland offers a stocked pheasant hunt each autumn which is open to junior hunting license holders, apprentice license holders and lapsed license holders via lottery.

This special opportunity allowed two young hunters to connect this fall at the Indian Springs Wildlife Management Area in Washington County. One hunting party had a dog, Dolly, and invited the other to join their hunt.

The hunt was a success, with each boy nabbing two pheasants.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources offers a variety of programs for new hunters, including stocked do-it-yourself hunts and the Maryland Mentored Hunt Program.

Recruiting more Marylanders to the sport is essential to the mission of the Department, as wildlife and conservation programs are funded through hunting fees. Fewer hunters means less money for conservation.

We apologize for not being open but our driveway was an ice skating rink and with the temps not above freezing, we were unable to heat the shop comfortably. If you ever need anything, call us!
