It’s was raining buckets yesterday and the wind was sweeping down the Charles while we brought the beauty of fall gardens inside the Museum of Science. Locally grown Dahlias and other blooms from Sunspell Flora Roving Radish Flower Farm and Andrea with show stopper Doris Jane from Paula Fisher - Paula’s Dahlias were spun into lush florals. And at the end of the evening - even the T-Rex 🦖 was smiling!

This gorgeous water lily dahlia being grown by one of the most talented gardeners I know, Andrea , was posing so pretty yesterday when I went to snip a few more flowers for this weekend’s wedding. Unfortunately, water lily varieties are not long lasting cut flowers, so I had to pass her by, but what a wonderful sight as you stroll through the garden!! Let’s hope all the bud and blooms hang tight through this weekend’s Nor’easter!!

Jitterbug! This sweet little dahlia is typically one of the first to bloom… but this has been anything but a typical year. I’m so glad to see her gracing our garden fence!

And now for something completely local… Mystic Music Fest is this Sunday at Medford’s Condon Shell on the banks of the Mystic River from 1-5pm. It’s fun, free and family (and pet) friendly! Medford Brewing will be there along with a food truck, face painting and chair massage. It’s always a fun time - hope to see you there!

A moment of remembrance to honor all those whose lives or loved ones were lost or injured on September 11th, 2001 and in aftermath: sickness spread from the wreckage of the towers and the following war. Thousands of lives lost and hundreds of thousands lives irreparably altered.

A moment of gratitude for all the emergency workers a respondents who converged on the site immediately and in the following days, weeks, months…

A moment of thankfulness to our global friends and allies who mourned with us and provided comfort and support. From our NATO allies who invoked Article 5 “an attack on one is an attack on all” to the small town in Newfoundland who housed and cared for thousands of stranded airline passengers and so many more. To the service members from all nations that stood alongside us in the aftermath.

My dahlias are truly topsy turvy this year - blooms are very late (due lost leaves from hungry critter and the drought), but Jasmine Pearl, typically one of my latest bloomers is offering up one of the first tall blooms of the season. She needs another day or two before cutting, but I’m so glad to see her!

Summery pinks and oranges with pops of blue and yellow were perfect for this late August wedding at The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Gardens. So many little vases sprinkled throughout the space brought the gardens inside!

We were thrilled to include flowers from: our gardens, incomparable dahlias & zinnias from Andrea including star dahlia in the bridal bouquet - Doris Jane, Sunspell Flora, Brilliant Dahlia Flower Farm and Buzzing Backyard.

Finally, the staff of the museum and Fireside Catering ensured a flawless evening!
