A little fun with the 3D printer, some garage ingenuity and and effort, and a handful of trashed Razor pocket scooters. Sanded the plastics and repainted in a Yoshi theme. Removed rust and painted what was too far gone. All those seats had holes and tears, repaired and painted like Yoshi’s saddle shell. Added some Yoshi bits and pieces to solidify the personality. The green one has been running around the neighborhood for a while. We officially graduated pink and purple today for summer birthdays. I’m betting there will be some Mariokart power up files out there in the 3D multiverse. Question is…who gets the blue shell?!? 💥

Right now rollerblades are life to our 9 year old. Until he wasn’t allowed to use them at the local skating rink because the brake had worn down to the bolt holding it on (the bolt would tear up their expensive floor). It’s hard to find the exact brake pad we need. Many objects around us are surprisingly simple when broken down to their basic shapes, and this was exactly that. Despite my modest modeling abilities on the computer, I was able to get this modeled rather quickly due to those simple shapes combined. The next day, I had him back up and running. It would be a better solution overall to print a mold and pour liquid urethane, but this tpu printed brake fits and does the job well enough and as long as it doesn’t wear too quickly, we can print as many as we need until he outgrows the current pair. With the rink’s blessing, he’ll be back at it next weekend.

I made this a couple years ago for our retiring mail carrier, but due to a surprise attack from my appendix, I was in the hospital when she made her last run through the neighborhood and missed the opportunity to gift her with this desk organizer. She was special and took time to hand out stickers to the neighborhood kids and sometimes just chat. She was on our route for over 20 years. We finally caught up with her to give her her gift, so sharing it. I added the Grumman F14 Tomcat hood ornament to the Grumman mail truck, because aviation is in our blood. Just a fun little project. Happy Retirement Mail Carrier Barb!
