🍂 Still looking for something fun to do this Saturday?

We’ve got two workshops happening at Nola’s, and we still have a few spots available!

🎨 Fall Scene Art Workshop
12 to 2 PM | $20

Start with one of our fall scenes and then make it completely your own. Add color, details, spooky touches, fall touches, or whatever else you think your scene needs. We’ll have paint markers, paints, and supplies out so you can play around with it and see where it goes.

No need to know how to draw or paint. The scene gives you the starting point. You get to decide what happens next.

🌿 Macramé Leaves Workshop
5 to 7:30 PM | $20

Come spend the evening with us and make your own macramé leaves. No pressure, no perfection required. Just come hang out and create something.

If you’d like to join us Saturday, please let us know as soon as you can so we can make sure we have enough supplies ready to rock!

❤️ Talk of the Town: Daniel Doctor

This week we’re doing something a little different and highlighting someone who seems to make an impact wherever he goes.

For Mrs. Nola, Daniel Doctor goes way back.

Jen remembers Dan from community programs in Lockport when she was still a teenager, several decades ago. Sorry, Dan. 😂 She remembers him as kind, funny, full of energy and someone who drew you in from the first time you met him. Later on, our families even ended up as neighbors in Lockport, and I’m pretty sure our kids spent half their childhood throwing balls over the fence into Dan’s yard. Sorry about that too, Dan. 😂

If you know Dan, you know he’s passionate and focused. Once he gets something in his head that he believes in, good luck telling him no.

Daniel has spent years working with students and families through the Medina Central School District, in roles ranging from teaching and administration to community partnerships.

Then there’s West Side Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Daniel founded the academy in Medina, creating a place for kids to learn dance, singing and acting. Over the years, it has grown to include theater and community productions, giving kids and adults opportunities to perform and be involved in the arts.

And somehow there’s still the business side of Dan. Just What The Doctor Ordered and Daniel's Men's Apparel have brought something different to Main Street, from antiques and unique finds to men’s clothing, accessories and Dan’s own sense of style. They’re another part of what makes walking around downtown Medina interesting.

We found an interview where Daniel talked about driving through Medina and thinking, “This is where I want to be.”

We understand that feeling. When we first started spending time in Orleans County, something about it felt like home to us too. Dan saw something here, and he has spent years putting his time, energy and passion into this community.

I’ve known Dan since I was a teenager, and he made an impression on me then. He’s a good man with a good heart, and I’m happy our paths somehow crossed again here in Medina.

❤️ Keep doing your thing, Dan. Medina is better for having you as part of it.

🍂 We had such a great time creating with everyone last weekend, and we’re ready to do it again!

We absolutely love seeing the café full of people making things, laughing, learning something new and just enjoying themselves. ❤️

This Saturday, September 19, we have two more chances to come create with us!

🎨 Fall Scene Art Workshop | 12–2 PM | $20
Take one of our scenic prints and give it your own fall or Halloween twist. Add pumpkins, ghosts, leaves, spiders, gravestones or whatever else you come up with. The best part is you can swap the artwork in and out of the frame and use it again and again.

🍂 Macramé Leaves Workshop | 5–7:30 PM | $20
Come learn some macramé skills and create a beautiful leaf on a black walnut branch. No experience needed. Just come hang out, make something pretty and embrace your inner hippie for a couple of hours. ✌️😂

Please let us know if you’re coming so we can make sure we have enough materials ready for everyone. Message us here, call 585-318-4001, or stop into the café to reserve your spot.

We’d love to fill the café with people creating again this Saturday. ❤️

This is Magic Monday at Nola’s. ❤️🃏

When we started Magic Mondays, we really didn’t know what they would become. We just wanted to give people a comfortable place to play some cards, meet some people, and enjoy a Monday night.

Watching it grow into this has been pretty damn cool.

What we appreciate most isn’t how many chairs we can fill. It’s that people come back. New players walk through the door and feel comfortable. Regulars make room at the table. People laugh, talk a little trash, help each other out, and genuinely seem to enjoy being here.

That’s exactly what we wanted Nola’s to be.

Mostly casual. Mostly Commander. Always welcoming. Nobody’s getting thrown out the window because they showed up with a proxy. 😂

If you’ve been thinking about checking out Magic Monday but weren’t sure if it was “your kind of group,” come give it a shot. There’s a pretty good chance there’s a chair waiting for you.

🃏 Every Monday, 6–9 PM
🚪 Doors open at 5:30
💲 $8 per person, includes a small beverage

📍 525 Main Street, Medina

And to everyone who keeps showing up on Mondays and has helped turn this into what it is, thank you. We really do appreciate you. ❤️

🍂 Tomorrow feels like a pretty good day to make something.

The temperatures are starting to cool down, football is back, and fall is definitely starting to creep into Western New York. We’ve got two fun projects on the tables Saturday at Nola’s.

👻 Ghost Garland | 12–2 PM | $25

Our spooky, mischievous ghosts are made with quality cotton and linen fabrics and are ready to find their way into your fall décor. No experience needed and everything is included.

🍁 Burlap Fall Wreath | 5–7:30 PM | $65

Pull. Twist. Re-pull. Wire. Repeat. Burlap wreath making is no joke! 😂 Come learn the ropes with us and turn all that burlap, ribbon and the flowers Mrs. Nola painstakingly picked out into something pretty awesome for your front door.

And you’ll leave knowing how to use the same techniques again when the seasons change. 🎄😉

The wreath workshop is limited to 6 people and requires a $25 deposit to reserve your spot.

Want to spend part of your Saturday creating with us? Venmo , call 585-318-4001, message us here, or stop in today.

And as always, our regular in house crafts are available throughout the day.

Sip. Play. Create. 🍂

❤️ Talk of the Town: Herbalty Cottage

Sometimes you get a pretty great reminder of just how many hidden gems we have in our little village.

The other day, we overheard someone questioning whether there really was a salt room in Medina.

We couldn’t help but chime in…

“Actually, there is.” 😊

And it’s right on Main Street.

This week’s Talk of the Town is Herbalty Cottage, owned by Certified Herbalist Bonnie Heck. Her daughter Lindsay also offers certified reflexology and acupressure right from the shop.

We’ve spent a little time there ourselves. We’ve experienced the Himalayan Salt Room, have one of their salt lamps, and have tasted and brought home some of their fantastic oils and balsamics. And just like we love pointing people toward the cool things they can discover around Medina, they’ve sent people our way too.

That’s what good neighbors and small businesses do. ❤️

But even knowing the shop, it’s pretty impressive when you stop and think about everything tucked inside. Along with the Salt Room and reflexology and acupressure, they offer an infrared sauna and red light therapy. Their shop is filled with organic herbs and teas, Himalayan salt products, specialty olive oils and balsamic vinegars, spices and other unique finds.

For a little village, we have some really cool things here.

Sometimes when you live somewhere, it’s easy to stop noticing just how special some of the things around you are. Herbalty Cottage is one of those places that makes Medina a little more interesting, gives visitors something they probably weren’t expecting to find, and reminds the rest of us that there’s still plenty to discover right here at home.

❤️ Places like Herbalty Cottage, and neighbors who support one another, are part of what makes Medina so special. Unique, unexpected, and right here in our own backyard.

🍂 Another creative Saturday is coming to Nola’s!

We had a great time getting ready for Bills season last weekend, and this Saturday we’re bringing a couple more signs of fall to the craft tables.

👻 Ghost Garland | 12–2 PM | $25
These spooky, mischievous little ghosts are ready to find their way into your home! Made with quality cotton and linen fabrics, they’re sure to be a fun statement or accent piece for your fall decorating. No experience needed and everything is included!

🍁 Burlap Fall Wreath | 5–7:30 PM | $65
Burlap wreath making is no joke. There’s pulling, twisting, re-pulling, wiring… oh my! Come learn the ropes with us. Pun intended. 😂

The flowers and ribbon were hand picked by Mrs. Nola after several “well, that’s just inventory loss” moments. 😂 They’re gorgeous, and we’ll show you how to put it all together while learning skills you can use for future seasonal wreaths.

The wreath workshop is limited to 6 people, and a $25 deposit reserves your spot.

And as always, our in house crafts are available all day. Come for a workshop or just stop in, grab a drink, pick a project and create!

📲 Venmo , call 585-318-4001, message us here, or stop in to reserve your spot.

🏈 You can feel Bills season starting to creep back in… ❤️💙

Summer has been pretty amazing, but the leaves will be changing before we know it. The nights are getting a little cooler, the hoodies are starting to find their way back into the laundry rotation, and somewhere out there somebody is already getting their favorite wing place on speed dial. 😂

Buffalo football is coming. 🦬

So this Saturday, come hang out with us at Nola’s and make something to get yourself ready for the season!
