Through the Eyes of the Artist.....
Being an artist is not something you choose, it chooses you. It is the unique way in which we feel, see, hear and interpret the world around us. It is often a peek inside oneself to reveal secrets we may never have known were there. It is an internal voyage that is always enlightening. My work is as diverse as life itself. I would l
ike to take the time to introduce my new series of work, "The Celebration of the Earth" series. Please Note that a portion of the proceeds are donated to The Wounded Knee Reservation since it is the neediest of them all,
I am of Cherokee decent and have become great friends with the Lakota People. This way I would be able to help out many people from anguish and stress through my artwork. I have been painting and drawing as long as I can remember. l was born in Chicago Illinois and raised in St. Louis Mo. Traveling from from State to state through out my life gave me a broad view of the world we live in. I have tried my whole life to enlighten my audience by revealing our inner most thoughts and feelings along with a detailed look at the world around us. Education
I attended Affton Senior High School where I studied under the direction of Mr. Green (head of the art department) and majored in Art and Music. I received a scholarship and attended the Summer Design Program at Washington University in St. Louis Missouri at the young age of 15. I was accepted into the School of the Art Institute of Chicago after only one semester of College. I began my studies at Forest Park Community College in visual Communications. This lead me to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I continued my Visual Communications studies. I did do a coop for The Field Museum of Chicago which turned into a freelance position for the Spiders Exhibit. Heritage
I am of Native American decent and have strong connections to my Native roots. My siblings and I were the first generation to be born off of the Alabama Cherokee Reservation. this is one reason why a portion of every art sale is being donated to the Wounded Knee Memorial reservation, in South Dakota. Although I am of Cherokee decent, I am donating funds to the Lakota People because they are the neediest reservation of them all. Michelle (Lyons) Haynes
