Did Paul Really Say That?
Wednesdays, 1pm
Paul gets mixed reactions from folks, especially those who are uncomfortable with some of his directions in Colossians and Ephesians. When the idea of submission by wives and slaves comes up, lots of people tune out. What’s going on here? Submission seems so very different from his other prominent theme of mutuality. We’ll look at how these letters are like Paul in seven of his other letters, how they go beyond Paul in other ways, and how and why they appear very different in these submission texts. You will very likely be surprised. Come join in the discussion and see what may be going on. And by the way, all this has bearing on understanding the Religious Rights use of these text in our current situation in the U.S. All are welcome.
