when i was a kid growing up in lewiston, idaho, i used to go into hirzels music w my friend paul to look at model trains. i kept noticing a drumset exactly like this up on a shelf whenever id dip in. sometimes id just walk there to stare at it. i took a snare drum class in 4th grade, got a crummy mij kit in jr high after saving paper route money and the rest is history. hirzels closed in 1991, same time i left home. long story shortened, ive been looking for a 70s ludwig hollywood in oyster blue pearl for a while now. fast forward to last month when my buddy james let me know hed found this one-owner 1971 kit with factory heads for a really great price. we went back and forth on whether he wanted to sell em, when i told him about the childhood music store story. we arrived at a good price n i did okay selling at the chicago show, so i brought em home from the other side of the state last weekend. theyre not for sale, but they will be available for studio rentals from acme drum shop here in memphis. little aaron is happy.

well, the chicago drum show was a friggin ball! i didnt take a ton of pics and its taken me a few days to recover but heres some visuals fer yr eyeballs...

hey, yall- acme drum shop/mlasko drums is headed to chicago next weekend! i was just planning to attend as a spectator and toss some stuff in the consignment area, but made a last minute decision to throw a booth together. gonna bring a few mlasko drums... what else should i throw in the car? if you can make it, please come check us out in booth #109. stoked to see some pals i havent seen for a while. im usually on tour this time of year. anyway, hope to see you there. a-aron

back in stock, while they last: our handmade boy scout quality snare rash pads. this time with pebbled bourbon cowhide and chocolate laces. these are buttery soft and great as-is for normal/light duty protection. if youre really a rasher, you can unlace one end and add a piece of cardboard or plastic to the inside. grab one if youve been waiting as it takes some urging from previous customers for me to whip out another batch... class up yr axe(?) for $25.

p.s. they smell really good.

finished cleaning up this 60s mij 12/13/16/20 kit in collectable 'fantasia pearl'. coolest finish ever? you decide. some fade/pearlescent loss, but still a rare finish that shows nicely. chrome is a little crunchy in spots, but everything works. clear pinstripes over clear emperors on toms sound tubby n fun. sweet player kit, $850.

act now and i ll include the homemade wolf art head. dont act like yr not impressed...

new mlasko kit available! i dont usually build these without an order, but here they are: 8x12, 14x14, 12x20 and 5.5x14 in gold oyster. all nos 8 ply maple shells w 30 degree edges and sealed natural interiors. slingerland lugs w sticksaver hoops, leedy style brown stained hoops w inlays, aquarian heads, bass drum ride cymbal and tom mounts. more of a late 60s-early 70s approach with this build, but very playable/practical. these drums will do just about anything. super cool little kit: $2757
