Self Hate Is Trash 🚮
I love ❤️ a lot of things about Memphis, but one thing about Memphis I will always despise is: “SELF HATE”
This event (Tyre Nichols) will stain beautiful Memphis Tennessee forever ♾️. However, if we go back far enough I’m sure we will find something much worse, and way darker.
We live in the Information Age.
There is 24 hours in a day.
There exists no real reason to be jealous, or envy of one another. The refusal to understand one another is a sure sign of self hate.
The sickness of self hate is clearly seen as evidence in the inability to yield to a beating heart that looks just like you. It be your own people coming for you.
The essence of self-hate among Black Americans often manifested as horizontal hostility, intraracial prejudice, or internalized racism is a profound psychological injury.
Jim Crow = psychological injury????
It occurs when a marginalized group adopts the racist biases, stereotypes, and hierarchies of the dominant culture and turns them against themselves and one another.
Instead of seeing a reflection of shared humanity and struggle in another Black person, the internalized lens sees a reflection of the negative societal myths they have been taught to fear or despise.
To understand its very root, we must examine how this was systematically engineered as a tool of social control, survival, and psychological warfare.

I might not talk to you regularly, we don’t need to talk regularly, but choosing to forgive doesn’t require constant engagement. To let one live peacefully without fear is real love for the diaspora. 
He was only 29, driving home after photographing a sunset.
Three days later, his mother was grieving the son who never made it home.
On January 7, 2023, a traffic stop in Memphis changed everything.
Police said they had stopped Nichols for reckless driving.
What happened next was captured on police body cameras.
Nichols ran from the initial encounter.
Officers pursued him and eventually caught him.
Five members of the Memphis Police Department’s SCORPION unit were involved: Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith.
All five officers were later fired.
Nichols was restrained and subjected to repeated blows from the officers.
During the encounter, he repeatedly called for his mother, who lived nearby.
Afterward, Nichols remained on the ground while medical assistance was not immediately provided.
He was eventually taken to a hospital.
He died three days later, on January 10, 2023.
The official autopsy determined that Nichols died from injuries caused by blunt-force trauma.
The five officers were subsequently prosecuted.
Desmond Mills Jr. and Emmitt Martin III pleaded guilty to federal charges.
In October 2024, a federal jury convicted Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, and Justin Smith of federal felonies related to Nichols’s death and the subsequent handling of the incident. The Justice Department stated that all five former officers had therefore been convicted of federal crimes or pleaded guilty to federal charges. (justice.gov)
The Memphis Police Department later disbanded the SCORPION unit.
But beyond the courtroom and the national debate over policing, there was a person at the center of everything.
Tyre Nichols was a father.
A son.
A photographer.
A skateboarder.
He loved photographing sunsets.
On that January evening, he was supposed to make it home.
He never did.
His death became a national symbol in conversations about police accountability and the use of force.
But Tyre Nichols was never just a case.
He was a 29-year-old man with a family, passions, routines, and a life that should have continued.
His name was Tyre Nichols.
And behind every headline was a human being whose family was waiting for him to come home.
