The Force is strong with this one. 🎺✨

Our repair tech Jobe—aka Jobe-Wan Kenobi—worked some Jedi magic on this vintage Getzen trumpet. But the before-and-after is only half the story.

Along with its registration card from 1972, this trumpet still had an Amro repair ticket from 1978. When we showed it to our longtime repair tech Archie, he recognized his own handwriting. He’d worked on this very trumpet 48 years ago!

Every Steinway in the Crown Jewel Collection is wrapped in a hand-cut, rare wood veneer, like mahogany, walnut, rosewood, bubinga, macassar ebony, and no two are alike.

The grain is matched by hand across the whole piano, even across the edge of the lid.

🛠️ Repair Tip Friday: Your instrument case is not a backpack!

Putting books, folders, or other extra items inside your case can place pressure on the instrument and cause damage, like forcing the second valve slide out of place, as you can see in this video.

We’re excited to have Memphis jazz and gospel musician Oveante joining us for our next Steinway Saturday! 🎹

Oveante is a blind pianist, vocalist, and songwriter who’s been making music pretty much his whole life. He started singing at two, picked up piano at 13, and eventually went on to study at Berklee College of Music. Along the way, he’s performed at the Freedom Awards in front of Stevie Wonder, won national competitions, recorded with Broadway star Tonya Pinkins, and plenty more.

You’re not going to believe this before and after. 😳

This piano’s soundboard was literally being held together with tape when it arrived at the Amro Piano Shop. Tee carefully restored and refinished it, and the transformation is incredible.

This is the kind of craftsmanship that gives an instrument new life. Beautiful work, Tee! 👏🎹
