Do you have fun goals that have no purpose but your own entertainment?

I have these all the time. They are not productive, they just make me smile when I achieve them.

Sadly I have not achieved this goal yet, but this is the closest I’ve come so far. Hopefully soon I’ll get it!

Ever sold something that you meant to take down?

I had planned to delist these shoes but totally forgot to. When they sold, I didn’t even realize these were the shoes that sold. I went to go pull them out of inventory and they weren’t there and I was really confused. They were labeled right, the SKU number was right, but they weren’t in the box. Then I remembered these were the shoes that had cigarette smoke smell and they were out on my porch.

In the end, I decided to keep the sale and we’ll see what happens with the buyer. I noted it in the description for the listing that they had a cigarette smell.

So we’ll see what happens when they get delivered. I didn’t feel like I needed to cancel this sale at all. But what would you do? Would you cancel the sale and cut your losses?

If only these were in better shape! I would have gratefully bought them. But they should be in the trash instead of on the shelf.

Condensing my inventory is my least favorite thing to do in all of reselling. I would much rather do anything else. And I only do it about every month and a half to two months. I’ll even pile shoes for a couple of days instead of just going and condensing inventory to have more boxes. But here’s my process, hopefully you can learn something new and make adjustments to your business if needed.

Just another not shocking move that eBay does to charge more money. Pay attention to how eBay categorizes the package. They will automatically change it to irregular package in order to charge you more for shipping. If it’s out of the normal, then something is probably wrong.

I have been saying this for years. Uniqueness in your items increases their ability to sell and their value. I love Vans and Converse, they do this very well and have almost unlimited designs and colorways that help them sell quick. So in whatever category you’re selling in, keep an eye out for anything that’s unique that sets you apart from other sellers.

I love finding Adidas Terrex shoes. They’re a great hiking shoe that Adidas makes, but I always look at the tread. I only buy them if they have good tread left, and no wear spots. I don’t even know how I missed this nail, this giant piece of metal in the middle of the tread. I guess I was so focused on the tread itself I was blind to the massive nail. Of course it went all the way through, so these shoes were not salvageable and off to the trash they went. Hopefully lesson learned, but probably not.

I could fill an entire series full of pictures and videos of trash shoes that thrift stores still price and try to sell. It never ceases to amaze me when I find them. They pass through at least 3 employees before hitting the shelf and none of them stop and think they shouldn’t be there. I’ve seen soles half way pealed off and they are still priced and put out. It’s insane.

It’s always a good day to spend at the thrift! I’ve fine tuned my process so l start with the most profitable section for me at the store. I do this just in case time is cut short to shop and I have to leave earlier then planned. To me, that’s men’s shoes. However, I do sell more women’s shoes by volume but make more per men’s shoes. Knowing your numbers can help you save time which means more profitability. Now get out there and find those deals!
