It’s like they don’t even look at the shoes when processing them. These had to have been handled by at least 3 employees to get to the shelf. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Let me know in the comments if you’ve seen worse?

Someone went a little crazy pricing shoes today. I would’ve bought all these Altras in a heartbeat if they were $10 or less. I was so bummed.

No one likes doing it, but it needs to be done!

Random person at the thrift “What do you do with all those shoes?”

I get asked this question all the time! Here’s a video showing how I process the shoes after I get home. This took me years to refine so that I’m the most efficient I can be and still trying to think of different ways to have better systems.

Better systems means more time to put into other things. I hope this helps someone out there improve what they are already building.

I could not believe my eyes when I first saw this computer on the ground.

Free stuff is piled up here all the time and when I take my wife to work I can check it out on my way back home. I scooped this thing up right away and put it in the trunk with plans to bring it home.

I was so sad to see that part of it was broken inside. It appears that it was dropped on the top corner and probably stopped working from that and someone dumped it with other stuff. Sadly, it’s lost its value, especially not having a power cord.

But in reselling, you win some and you lose some, it comes with all sorts of highs and lows we just keep pluggin on and trust the process.

When in doubt, part it out.

This was my mantra for so long before I started selling shoes. Value is literally everywhere! The vacuum we used for years finally bit the dust. So next time we were at the thrift store we picked up a nice shark vacuum for $15. Some time later the hose broke and that was the end of using it. Most people would throw it out and be done. But that was not the plan. I knew I could sell parts of it, make our money back and still be profitable above the original $15 investment.

Never give up on value, there is money to be made everywhere.

I have loved working from home. It has come with its own challenges but the journey has been worth it.

I am a huge advocate for choosing a career that you’ll enjoy and one that allows you to keep what’s most valuable to you. I wanted to be an involved dad. I wanted to know who their teachers are, who their doctors are, when their appointments are and so on.

Back in grad school I started working more at home. It was a major adjustment but it laid the foundation for having a home based career. I went from wanting complete work home separation to having a ton of overlap between the two.

Is it for everyone? No.
Is it better than I could have imagined? Absolutely.

I could not believe my eyes. Last year, I decided to stop shopping at Goodwill since they excluded shoes from their half off coupon. I could not willingly pay the prices there when I could get shoes cheaper at other thrift stores. I went in to get some stuff for my daughter for school knowing that I wouldn’t get a lot of shoes but decided to look anyways. I was pleasantly surprised to find many reasonably priced shoes. My average pair was $6.14 and I got about 26 pairs. I think Goodwill is back on the map. I really hope so.

Last weekend was very needed! We ditched the cold rain/snow weather and headed south for fun and warmth. Vacation!

Have no fear a thrift store was near. I was crazy and argued with my wife about going. The van was already full of all our kids and stuff for the trip. Eventually she convinced me to go “check it out”, but once I started I couldn’t stop and ended up getting 64 pairs of shoes 🤦🏼‍♂️. The money that will be made from those shoes will more then cover the cost of the trip.

Here are some pictures of the shoe haul, how it fit in the van and some highlighted weekend sales. Enjoy!

Would you buy shoes without laces?

For years I passed on those shoes. Eventually, I got tired of leaving good value shoes just because they didn’t have laces. I found out that I could buy multiple laces for cheap on Amazon and started picking up those shoes. The first time I ordered laces, it was for over 30 pairs. It took forever to relace all those shoes. Now I have a way better system to do it so it doesn’t take so much time.

Make sure to find the obstacles in your systems so you can be more efficient then yesterday
