Coin Ring Claymation Creation 🪙💍

I love those animations where it takes 2 days to make 30 seconds of content 😂

I get questions on how a coin is converted into a ring all the time, it is a fun process that involves punching, stretching and compressing the metal carefully while preserving the original detail like the date.

Metals can be worked with almost like clay once you have the right tools and process.

Makes for a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable history.

I wanted to do something a little different for the Western Idaho Fair this year to celebrate the 2026 coin designs. To help enhance the detail, I selectively gold plated each coin. What do you think?

The main coin featured is my personal favorite, the half dollar, with the Torch being passed and text "Knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty."
In the middle are the quarters featuring the Mayflower and Declaration of Independence.
The top smallest coins are the new dimes featuring both Emerging Liberty and the Eagle.

Fun Fact: There is a limited edition version of the Declaration of Independence quarter with "July 4th" on the front! Only 250,000!

Got some unique new pieces at Idaho Made! One of my personal favorites is a necklace I cut out from a Peru Coin that has an alpaca on it. Another cool one is a silver coin from the Bahamas featuring a Swordfish. Never know what you can find on world coins!

New skill unlocked! 🪙

This coin pendant was quite the challenge. A customer had this 1924 Latvia silver coin (gorgeous detail) and wanted me to hand cut ALL of the background. 😮

Of course I said yes, even tho I had my doubts (definitely nervous at first I’d mess it up). It’s taken me years to cut the dates, stars, and other fine details but never to this extent. Including the selective gold plating.

Over the weekend I was able to get this made! But I needed new drill bits and saw blades almost too small to see.

Very proud of this one, I didn’t know if I was qualified to do the work but now I’m going to experiment with more fine jewelry.

Always keep learning and experimenting!

For those of you who still carry physical cash, we now have money designed to carry your money!
Kind of a fun new process bending the silver and creating this money clip out of a Morgan Dollar. This was my first attempt but I am pretty proud of it.

Known as the Bundesadler, or Federal Eagle, this German 5 Mark was minted from 1951-1974 with 62.5% silver. By hand cutting out the background, I can highlight the details of the coin.

It also has one of my wife's favorite features on a coin, inscription around the edge. In this case saying "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit" (Unity and Justice and Freedom).

This article did a really good job including my background with what started as a hobby of mine. My story has evolved over the last 3 years of business to include a small family and a wonderful community of makers, friends, and small biz owners.

This Silver Italy 5 Lire was a fun coin to cut out. From 1927, this coin has seen some history! The 5 Lire was minted from 1926 to 1935 and depicts an eagle standing on a Littoral Beam with an axe. From coin to coin necklace; transformed into a piece of history to wear!

American currency used to be made of precious metals and jewelry uses the highest quality metals. Here in this video we have the perfect combination with a 22k $10 coin I turn into a ring. This coin is a great example of American pride and prosperity.
