Early October is prime fall shad-feeding time. As baitfish push into creek arms, pockets, points, and shallow feeding areas, bass follow and begin feeding aggressively on moving forage. A 2.8” or 3.3” Phat Swimmer paired with an Owner Hooks Flashy underspin gives you the compact shad profile, paddle-tail action, and added flash needed to match that bite. Use the 2.8” when bass are keyed on smaller bait or getting pressured, and step up to the 3.3” when you want a little more presence. Cast it around visible bait, points, grass edges, docks, and anywhere bass are pushing shad — then keep it moving and let the blade do the work.

After months of development, testing, rigging, and putting fish in the boat, the wait is over. The Phat Pak Baits Sea Mine and Detonator Rig are officially released and available now.

The Sea Mine is built from ultra-durable, super-buoyant TPE with flexible tentacles that quiver and undulate with the slightest movement. Pair it with the Detonator Rig and you get a purpose-built system that keeps the hooks positioned around the outside of the bait while letting those tentacles move freely.

Sometimes a little extra sound is all it takes to pull a fish over.

We’re taking our 3.5” Cross Minnow in Silver Shad, rigging it on the Covert Rig, and adding a worm rattle inside the bait to give the presentation more sound and more drawing power.

That added noise becomes especially valuable when water visibility drops — muddy water, recent storm runoff, inflows, or any situation where the water has gotten dirtier and fish can’t rely on sight as much as they normally would.

The Cross Minnow still gives you the natural baitfish profile, while the rattle adds another cue that can help fish locate the bait and track it down in reduced visibility.
