The sheer amount of women (and men) who have been affected by sexual assault or harassment is astounding. It's such a silent problem in our society, but not today. And that feels immensely empowering. Other people know and understand what surviving something so traumatic is like. Me, too. Hug your loved ones extra tight because you never know what they are going through. Stand up to the abusers and let them know that this is unacceptable. My hands were shaky writing this, just like they were the day it happened. Emotional and physical wounds heal, but something like sexual assault is never erased from your memory.
