The Mescalero Apache Tribe is issuing a warning to all residents and travelers regarding the flood risk in burn scar areas, including Nogal Canyon, Fence Canyon, Bear Canyon, the Salt Fire burn scar, and South Tularosa Canyon.

- Important Safety Recommendations:

• Avoid Driving Through Flooded Roadways: Water depth and debris can be deceptive, posing serious risks.

• Stay Away from Canyon and Drainage Areas: These zones can experience rapid flooding during and after heavy rain.

• Consider Alternate Routes: If traveling through affected areas, plan your route carefully.

• Monitor Local Updates: Stay informed about changing conditions to ensure your safety.
