We’ve been meaning to try Southern Mines Brewing Company since they've soft-opened and finally went yesterday and it did not disappoint.

Nick loves trying different breweries so we were excited to check it out, but everything exceeded what we expected. We honestly can’t express how good both the beer and food are.

I did a flight and liked every one. My personal favorite was the “Beer Hug” with a hint of cardamom. Really unique and balanced.

The food was just as good. The arepas were the standout. I got the jalapeño popper with the green sauce and immediately knew I was not sharing with Nick 😂 Of course he saw it and convinced me to do halfsies, but honestly everything we tried was so good it worked out.

We also tried the pizza arepa and that one was great too.

We shared a Cuban sandwich and even that was so good. I’m usually not a fan of Cuban sandwiches but this one was perfect.

It’s right off Highway 108 and such a great stop on the way up the mountain. Nice indoor and outdoor seating and just a really good overall vibe.

Jonathan helped us and was super friendly. I think he might be one of the owners and mentioned his brother in law is the brew master.

They said their grand opening should be around April 11 if that doesn’t change.

We’re really excited to have this as an option up here and can’t wait to bring family and friends when they visit. Definitely going back 🤤

Okay but LOOK at this cake. ☀️🍰

We ordered a custom German chocolate cake for a 40th birthday and The Sunny Side Bakehouse absolutely nailed it.

Tania was so responsive, easy to work with, and even delivered it which made party day effortless. The cake itself? Perfect texture, moist but not too dense. Rich and decadent without being overly sweet.

And here’s how you know it was good…
The next morning, all of us wanted leftover cake for breakfast with our coffee. 😂☕️ That says everything.

I’m so glad she grabbed this photo before delivery because we were way too caught up celebrating to remember.

I’ve struggled to find a consistent go-to cake artist in the Twain Harte/Mi Wuk Village area, so I’m genuinely THRILLED to have found one. ☀️✨

That’s a wrap on the Valentine’s-inspired mugs 💕🌲

New orders won’t arrive in time for Valentine’s Day, and these will officially retire after the holiday. One last wave goodbye to this little seasonal run.

This one was fun and thanks for indulging me, for the kind notes, and for grabbing one if it made you smile. On to working on what’s next.

A little downtown Angels Camp wander today and I ended up in one of those shops where you want to slow down and really look at everything.

I picked up these glasses from Mingos on Main 🦩...collecting unique, colorful stemware has become a bit of an obsession lately, and these immediately caught my eye. They also have the same style with yellow stems, which were equally tempting. The shop has such a great mix of new and vintage pieces, with plenty that feels just as right to keep for yourself as it does to gift.

I’m bummed I can’t make it to tomorrow’s 7th Annual L🩷VE L🩷CAL Angels Camp Event, but if you’re headed out, this is such a fun stop. Eclectic, thoughtful, and full of things that feel special without trying too hard.
