Situated between 3 great ancient empires: Greek, Roman and Egyptian, sitting in modern day Turkey. These earrings are named after Cleopatra because it reminds me of her affairs of state that supposedly took her to Ephesus where she could use her 3 cultures to keep peace in Egypt. Cleopatra was a Greek, but a queen of Egypt married to Julius Caesar then Marcus Anthony-both Roman. She used these 3 blended cultures to intoxicate her rivals with her superb diplomatic prowess and delay the inevitable seizure of Egypt by the bloodthirsty Romans.

This coin was minted in the 1st century A.D., a time of great prosperity and the rise of Christianity in the Empire. When I think of the Romans and Christianity one might think of the glorious basilicas and monasteries strewn throughout the land. One of the earliest structures, Monastery of Saint Thaddeus in Modern-day Armenia, which dates back to the time of this coin in 68 A.D. Other later famous religious landmarks were built as Christianity rose to prominence—see the images and see if you can guess where they are located.

These earrings' photos speak for themselves with bright shining gold and intricate designs pressed on each side. One side has an angelic face and the other the silhouette of an angel.
They remind me of a very good friend and role model of mine: Annia Izquierdo. I first noticed Annia among our staff not only due to her professionalism and complete and total adoration of the students but also how she somehow found the time to do extremely kind-hearted activities in her spare time. Like feed the homeless, organize toy drives and prepare donations to kids in our school experiencing homelessness. But what impressed me most about her was her smile and how genuinely close she is to being an actual angel on earth.
