Happy Saturday from my handsome boy. Jax is always smiling so that first picture is very rare. A few months ago I put Jax on a very strict diet and exercise regimen and I must say I'm very proud of the results. People constantly criticize me for having my dogs on strict diets but is that really their problem anyways? Comments like "oh they're dogs let them live" or "one little piece isn't going to hurt them" or my favorite "my dog lived 18 years eating house food". It's time people start minding their own business and letting others do what they feel is right for their dog(s).

To say these two are a handful is an understatement. Owning two male bullies that crave constant attention can be demanding but incredibly rewarding. Expect constant companionship and affection, but be prepared to manage their energy through regular exercise, mental stimulation, and playtime. Consistent training helps establish boundaries, ensuring a harmonious environment where they can thrive.

Important things I've learned in my 9 years of being a bully breed mom:

Establish a consistent routine to provide structure for your dogs.

Use interactive toys to keep them mentally stimulated.

Rotate their toys regularly to prevent boredom (this is very important in my house)

Implement short training sessions to reinforce good behavior.

Create designated quiet spaces for each dog to retreat when needed.

Schedule separate one-on-one time with each dog for individual attention. (Extremely important, if not the most important thing)

Daily exercise to burn off excess energy.

Some days, I look at her, and it's hard to believe she's already 9. The days seem to slip through my fingers, and if I could, I'd hit pause on time. Grateful she's healthy with no conditions, I know how blessed I am. Living in the moment and cherishing our time together is a constant, but those thoughts of inevitable change find their way in, taking me to a tough place.

The reality of aging pets is a challenge every pet owner faces—the looming grief, real and raw, difficult to navigate. Watching your dog age isn't easy; it tugs at the heartstrings. It's a conversation that needs more attention because acknowledging and discussing these emotions is part of the journey.
