Apparently “weekend” is just another word for two days to get 47 things done around the homestead. 😂🌿

This weekend was FULL.

🐴 Pasture projects and taking care of Mac
🐐 Working around the goat areas and keeping Fern & S’mores happy
🐥 Checking on babies, tending animals, filling waters, hauling feed, cleaning… and then somehow doing it all again
🐶 Giving Arlo his much-needed summer shave — which basically created enough hair to make another Arlo 😂
🐠 Deep cleaning the fish tank, because apparently we didn’t already have enough things to clean
🌱 Tackling weeds and outdoor projects that have been staring at us for entirely too long
🔨 Building, fixing, moving, organizing and inevitably making another trip to the store because we forgot one thing
🧼 And squeezing Moonstone Meadows work somewhere into the middle of it all

There’s something funny about homestead life. You can work from morning until dark, look around and still see a hundred things that need done… but then you stop for a second.

You see Mac in the pasture.
The goats happily browsing.
The chickens scratching around.
The kids running through the yard.
A freshly shaved Arlo looking about 10 pounds lighter. 😂
And this little piece of land slowly becoming what we dreamed it could be.

And suddenly, the sore muscles, dirty clothes and never-ending to-do list feel pretty worth it. 🤍

We may not have relaxing weekends around here…

but I wouldn’t trade these ones for anything. 🌿🐴🐐🐓

Tiny peeps, happy hearts, and another little miracle here at Moonstone Meadows. 🐣✨

Our first guinea keets are hatching, and there is nothing quite like watching new life make its way into the world. Every tiny chirp is a reminder that all the waiting is worth it. We can’t wait to watch these little ones grow alongside the rest of the farm family!

Turns out my camera roll has been training for this moment all along. 😂📸

I always wondered why I had hundreds of photos of homemade bread, cookies, soups, and family meals. Now that I'm building the Moonstone Meadows recipe section on our website, I'm realizing... past me was actually doing future me a huge favor. 🤍

Who knew all those food photos would finally have a purpose? 😂

They’re quiet moments.
A deep breath after a long day.
Five peaceful minutes before the house wakes up.
A reminder that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.

Week two of patiently incubating her guinea eggs. Yes this is a chicken. Our oldest girl Smartie. 💛 Being a broody mama isn’t glamorous—it’s long days, little breaks, and a whole lot of dedication. We’re cheering her on and hoping for healthy keets in just a couple more weeks! 🥚🐣

Well... our garden definitely kept us humble this year.
This spring, we planted tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions, zucchini, watermelon, and cantaloupe, and a few other vegetables. We had big dreams of a stocked pantry this fall through winter.
Instead, we got a super late spring, weeks of heavy rains and I never found the time to build our raised beds, and one by one, the garden struggled. Last night I pulled out at least half of our dying tomatoes and all of our peppers.
Right now, all thats hanging on is a tiny watermelon, and cantaloupe - and we are cheering them on.
That's homesteading, though. Some seasons bring a full harvest, and others bring lessons.
Although the letdown was hard, I am starting plans to build the garden for next year, this year. There will be no excuse for not being ready.
Here's to learning, growing, and always trying again.

Every homestead has a few characters... and ours just got a little more entertaining.

Meet Fern 🌿 and S'mores 🤎

Fern is the curious one. She's always the first to investigate anything new, whether it's a bucket, a flower, or someone stopping by the fence. If there's an adventure to be found, she's already halfway there.

S'mores is a little more laid back (most of the time). He loves snacks, cozy naps, and following Fern into whatever she discovers. Together, they're already keeping us smiling every single day.

They may be small now, but they're quickly becoming a big part of life here at Moonstone Meadows. We can't wait to share their adventures, silly moments, and all the joy they bring to our little farm.
