Have you tried The Polish Peasant in Michigan City?

Kolasa’s Restaurant, also known as The Polish Peasant, is located at 801 Franklin Street and serves homemade Polish comfort food.

They are currently open Wednesday through Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM. 🍽️

If you like pierogi, stuffed cabbage, Polish sausage, potato cakes, bigos and other traditional Polish dishes, this is a great local spot to check out. 😋

The dining room is on the smaller side, so calling ahead may be a good idea on busy nights.

A little more green is growing in the Uptown Arts District! 🌳

Building owners Ray and Nancy recently planted a tree in the empty sidewalk space in front of their building. It is a simple act that shows pride in their property, their block and Michigan City as a whole.

🍂🍫 A sweet evening is coming to Barker Hall!
This fall, Barker Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church will set the stage for the 2026 Fall Chocolate Ball, presented by 25 Black Men of Michigan City, IN.

Join community leaders, local professionals, supporters, and neighbors for an elegant evening filled with live music, dancing, great food, fellowship, and — of course — plenty of decadent chocolate.

🎙️ The evening will be hosted by “The Godfather” Geno J of The Mix 102.3, with cuisine from Chef Kia Bonds (Kia Can Cook) and chocolate desserts by Tasha Hodges.

The Walking Art 5K is a perfect way for the Uptown Arts District community to celebrate the creativity that extends throughout our city. Join the Michigan City Public Art Committee for a costumed 5K featuring approximately 30 public artworks along the route, plus live music, art, and a community festival.

Come dressed as a famous work of art, an artist, or in your favorite Halloween costume and help celebrate the artists and public spaces that make Michigan City such a creative place to call home.

Your Friday night plans are waiting in the Uptown Arts District. 🎶🍸

As summer winds down, Michigan City is filling the weekend with music, art, shopping and plenty of great food.

Tonight, the Michigan City Mainstreet Association's First Friday: Summer Send Off! brings live music and artist entertainment to locations along Franklin Street. Shops like Good News Vintage and Abigail Hayden Interior Design, LLC are staying open later too to join in on the festivities!

There’s a lot happening around Trinity Episcopal Church and downtown Michigan City! 🎨☕🥐

The Cellar Door is hosting a pop-up with delicious food and beverages, and vendor market will be bringing even more creativity to the area with local artists and vendors setting up to share and sell their work.

Meanwhile, the roof restoration at Barker Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church continues as we work to preserve this important piece of Michigan City history for generations to come.

While you’re out exploring, be sure to check out some of the featured benches and public art pieces around town, created and supported through the Michigan City Public Art Committee. They’re a wonderful reminder of the creativity, history, and community spirit that make Michigan City special.

THE FRANKLIN sign is up!

Caught this today at 11th and Franklin. It’s been pretty incredible watching Station Block rise piece by piece, and now seeing THE FRANKLIN on the building makes it feel that much more real.

It’s an exciting milestone for Franklin Street and the Uptown Arts District — and a good moment to celebrate all the businesses, residents, and people who call Uptown home and keep bringing life to this part of downtown.
