Small Business Sunday

Yesterday we walked around a farmers market, and our oldest daughter had one little dollar in her hand. 🤍 She was so excited to walk around by herself and see what she could buy with her money.

After visiting a few tents, she came back to us with the biggest smile—and a few little treasures. A sample cookie from one small business and a bracelet from another. They knew she only had her $1, and they didn’t have to give her anything. But they did, simply because they wanted to make her day.

And they absolutely did. 🥹

It reminded me just how personal small businesses are. There are real people behind every table, every package, every order and every interaction. People who notice your kids, remember your name, celebrate with you, and sometimes do something kind just because they can.

I made sure to walk back to those tents and purchase from them because I wanted them to know: I see you. I appreciate you. And your kindness mattered.

You just don’t get moments like that walking through a department store.

So this Small Business Sunday, remember that supporting small is about so much more than buying something. Sometimes you’re supporting the very people who make your community a little sweeter. 🤍
