New gate entry going in.

A video intercom on a gooseneck post: visitors ring at the gate, and you see them, talk to them and open the gate from your phone, wherever you are.

I was 12 when my dad, Dick Reed, and I built a pair of stereo speakers from scratch at our house in Friendship Heights, D.C. They played music for our family for years, and they're where all of this started.

From there it was Gonzaga, film sets in L.A., Wired Up Home Theater in 2006, and Middleburg in 2010. Today it's Metamorphosis Environments, working out of The Plains.

The whole story is on our new About page: metamorphosis.solutions/about

When you call, you get me.

Our new website is up, and it finally looks like us.

Real jobs from around Hunt Country, like this Frame TV we hung at Martin's Tavern in Georgetown. Real reviews from our neighbors. And the story of how it all started: a pair of stereo speakers my dad and I built when I was 12.

Music is our passion, but we also do lighting, shades, Wi-Fi and gates for homes and farms from The Plains to Georgetown.

Behind the scenes: before a big screen goes on the wall, it arrives on a pallet.

We handle the delivery, mounting, wiring and programming, so the first thing you see is the finished picture.

Did you get a letter from Verizon about your phone line?

Verizon has asked the FCC to shut off copper phone lines in Virginia. The FCC paused the request on September 25, but it's still pending. That line may run more than a phone: alarm panels, gate call boxes and fax lines often depend on it.

We started The Land Line Group to move those lines over on your schedule, not Verizon's, keeping the same number. Call (571) 731-7772 or visit landlinegroup.com.

Good art deserves good light.

We install picture lights and low-profile track heads that put the light on the painting, not in your eyes. They dim on a schedule or with one keypad press.

The evenings are getting shorter, and the clocks go back on November 1. This is the season landscape lighting earns its keep.

We design and install landscape and architectural lighting with Patrick Harders of Sterling Lighting. It lights driveways, paths, trees and barns, and all of it runs on a schedule or from your phone.

Now's a good time to plan it, before the leaves are down.
