My store has been open for 39 years! my beautiful wonderful warm Main Street shop in this lovely College town that I’ve called home for most of my life! How lucky am I to have landed here in the early 70s? I love being there every single day. It’s been the joy of a lifetime. Over these decades, I’ve had some unbelievable women working for me, some started as teenagers and these young girls have worked around amazing and unique women and I know have learned so much about responsibility, hard work, self-respect, pride, values and so many important life skills, it’s been a wonderful experience for them and for us. Today my staff of amazing women use Lisa, ELIN, Mary, and the person who has been working for me since the day I opened Janice who I have spent more time with than anybody in my family. Her loyalty is unrivaled and I think all of these women for the incredible care and hard work they do every day. It’s fun! And that’s the most wonderful thing about coming to work every day.!

For a year and a half much of the library has been in the bank down the street from my Store library is now finished and very glorious and they’re moving the books back down the street in car by hand all afternoon something to behold! ❤️ village

We take Apple season here in Vermont very seriously and apple pie is a staple of many people’s diets… including for breakfast.!! Have you ever tasted it with sharp cheddar cheese? totally yummy.!
This is a lovely stoneware pie plate with an apple core and a practical server. It would make a very nice little shower gift housewarming gift.

Besides all the other things we have in the very full store right now, we always have a lot of Vermont inspired gifts so people can take home a little piece of this wonderful place!

It was a beautiful day here. Summer is just beginning soon. School will be out the camps at Lake Dunmore will be opening. Lots of happy tourists coming to Middlebury. Having a river and a waterfall in the middle of your town is quite spectacular and having the best view of that waterfall from the back porch of your store is even better.

I think I might have said “absolutely wonderful“ more than once but in any case they really are, there’s 12 huge sheets of high-quality paper. The printing job on these books is really outstanding.!

Congratulations Middlebury College graduates ! Middlebury high school graduates too! You’re off and running … don’t forget Vermont as you make the leap, and think about coming back. We need you as teachers, Doctors, lawyers, builders, plumbers, roofers, mechanics! .

Alice, Wind in the Willows, the Secret Garden, this beautiful stacked books planter is so sweet! and the little Secret Garden vase is perfect for fresh flowers. The “open book” wildflowers vase is a beautiful thing. Celebrate the love of books.!
