Well… apparently my body looked at everything I already have going on and said, “You know what Miranda needs? Another side quest.” 🙃
About a week ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Those are definitely not words I expected to be saying, and I’ve spent the last week processing a whole lot of emotions, appointments, information, and the general audacity of my own body.
Thankfully, we have a plan. I’ll be undergoing radiation treatments, and we’re taking things one step and one appointment at a time.
I’m sharing because I’ve always tried to be open about the messy parts of life along with the good ones. I’m still me. I’m still a mom, wife, artist, business owner, community chaos coordinator, and professional taker-on-of-way-too-many-things. 😂 Cancer doesn’t get to take any of those things away from me.
There may be days when I’m tired, days when I have to slow down, and days when my body and I are going to have some VERY strongly worded conversations about its life choices.
But for now, we have a plan, I have an incredible support system, and I have entirely too much left to do to let this define me. So here we go. Radiation, one day at a time, and probably a wildly inappropriate joke or two along the way.
