CELEBRATING WOMEN

The Depot, a nonprofit gift shop, has been promoting women in business since it opened in the baggage area at the Ridgewood, NJ Railroad Station in 1965. For over 60 years, much of its merchandise has been designed and made by women or women-owned businesses. The Depot is also a member of the Federation of Woman's Exchanges, which consists of 15 nonprofit organizations operated by women in 10 states, each of which provides financial support from the proceeds of their shop to those in need in their communities. The Federation’s mission is to provide mutual support and cooperation among its members and to provide a way to exchange ideas
and best business practices.

During its 60-plus years in business, The Depot has donated
more than $3.5 million to Children's Aid and Family Services, Inc., a northern New Jersey nonprofit organization with the mission to empower individuals, strengthen families, and support healthier communities. Since its founding in 1899 (as Children's Aid and Protective Society of the Oranges), Children’s Aid and Family Services has been changing lives.

Visit our shop to meet some of the current volunteers who, like hundreds of volunteers before them, have contributed both their time and talents to help Children's Aid and Family Services.
