Happy Birthday, America! The Friends Bookstore is having a 75% off sale this July! The sale will run from July 1-29 on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Bookstore will be closed on July 4th in celebration of 250th birthday of the United States.

It is summer. Yay! Time for slowing down and doing a little reading. The Friends Book store has lots of books just right for summer reading. Check out our $1 sale and and don't forget to stock up for your children's reading fun this summer.

The Friends bookstore has made recent donations, to the Midland Storytelling, and Centennial Library's summer reading program as well as a couple of smaller donations. For those who are new to Midland or didn't know, the bookstore is a non-profit that takes book donations and sell the used books very reasonably. Our profits then go into the community for education, library and literacy projects. If you haven't been to the bookstore, Please come visit us on Wednesday and Saturday 9-1. We appreciate volunteers who help us keep the bookstore stocked and organized. If you have spare time this summer, consider volunteering with us. We are also a good place to donate books you no longer want or need. We keep books out of landfills and in hands of readers through our pleasant, well-organized bookstore.

The second picture this month is a list of QR codes that will take you to our web presence. To utilize these, focus your phone camera on the QR code and snap the picture. Your phone will then take you to our webpages where you find more information and our monthly sales. This page can be printed and kept to make it easy to get our information.

Update on the break-in at the Friends of Libraries and Literacy Bookstore at 2305 W.Michigan near the hospital. We have no information on the culprit but store is
open for business Wednesday and Saturday 9-1. All is cleaned up and we are still having our 75% off sale. Read the image below for more information. thank you to all who have supported ad helped us.

Something Bad Has Happened. Sometime, Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, the Friends of Libraries and Literacy Bookstore at 2305 W. Michigan was broken into and trashed. The front door was smashed and the checkout area was ransacked, probably for cash which is not kept at the store. Other parts of the store were ransacked, making a mess of several sections for no real reason.

The Friends bookstore is a non-profit, volunteer run organization that has been in Midland for over 50 years supporting education, libraries and literacy here in our community. The bookstore finds new homes for books, keeping lots of them out of the landfill and helping to make Midland an informed and educated community.

If you should have any information about this break-in, please contact the police. This break-in and damage doesn’t just affect a store but our whole community. Your help is appreciated.

The Friends Membership sale begins on Sunday, March 29 from 1-4. Get a membership for $5 for individual and $10 for family. Only members can attend the Sunday meeting and afterwards can shop for books with all books only $1 (recent arrivals near the front desk are the only exceptions.) During business hours, Wednesdays and Saturdays, Wednesday, April 1 through April 29, books will 75% off. The bookstore can only accept cash and local checks with ID during this sale.

The bookstore will be closed on Saturday, April 4 for the Easter holiday.

The Friend's Bookstore Needs You! It takes a lot to keep the shelves full and tidy, refilled with new, interesting books and to help and check out customers. The proceeds from the bookstore goes to support education, libraries and literacy projects in our West Texas community.

If you are able to volunteer, please come to the bookstore and check with the checkout desk. They will be delighted to introduce you to someone who will be glad to help you find just the right job.
