Looks like it's stick season over in New Hampshire.

Of course it has been for a few weeks now, but with an absent wind and temps in the low 20s I ventured over there hoping for some steam rising from Crystal Lake with The Little White Church in the background - a popular site when the leaves are colorful, not so much when the trees are sticks. There was indeed some "smoke" and I grabbed some pics (this is one) and then I waited around for another hour on the frosty shoreline with hopes that the sun would make the steam pop. A beaver on its morning swim kept me company and startled me a few times by whacking the pond surface with its tail (anybody know why they do that? I can just look it up but I'm lazy right now). The sun illuminated the hilltops behind the church and the light slowly made its way downhill. Unfortunately by the time the sun's rays reached lake level the steam mostly dissipated. For now, Eaton waits for snow.

The Maine coastline is getting blasted by another powerful storm today. Moderate to even possibly severe flooding is expected with a combination of storm surge and high tide around noon. I took this on Wednesday a couple hours before high tide - it might look like this right now.
