The people who made and decorated these stoneware crocks probably never imagined we’d still admire and treasure them a century later.

They were useful, everyday objects made to do a job. Even the fantastic decorations were often done to use up the rest of the cobalt ink in the pot at the end of the day. And now? They’re collected, studied, displayed, and valued considerably more than anyone who first carried one home could have imagined.

Which got us wondering...
