FROM THE FARMER 🌿 | Monday, September 14
There’s a certain feeling that settles over the farm this time of year.
The evenings are sweater weather. The fire pit is getting more use. And the pace, while still very busy, is beginning to shift.
Our fall Sundays have been especially beautiful. The barn is finally starting to feel less like a renovation zone and more like a place to gather, share a meal and enjoy being together. And I think we’re all ready for a little more of that.
Our flower friends may have noticed that our U-Pick season is winding down, too. There’s one more Dahlia opportunity coming in October, and if you’ve been waiting for it, don’t wait too long. It has a way of filling up quickly. 🌸
We’re also beginning to fold our celebrations into what we’re calling Picnics & Petals—small gatherings, celebrations and time spent together out in the flower fields. So if you’re already dreaming about something special for 2027, we’d love to hear what you have in mind.
Around the farm, we’re beginning the quieter work of putting one season to bed
while preparing for the next.
Rows are being unbedded and cleaned up. Specialty flowers that have dropped seed are being saved for next year. The potting shed is getting organized, and we’re sorting seeds and making plans for the crops ahead.
There’s something satisfying about it.
After months of growing, harvesting and gathering, slowing down starts to sound pretty good.
We’ll still have a few beautiful things happening between now and spring—Thanksgiving centerpieces, holiday orders and Valentine’s Day 2027 will carry us through the winter.
And then, before we know it, the tulips will return and wake the farm back up for another season.
For now, though, we’re enjoying the bonfires, the cooler evenings and the feeling of one season gently giving way to the next.
Maybe slowing down is exactly what we all need. 🌿
