Many of you who visit this page have seen the little green building on the corner of Wells and Hawley, where our organization’s logo has faced west along Hawley Road since 2021.
We purchased the building in 2019 and renovated it with a new roof and custom windows, creating what we envisioned as a COME TO UNITY community space. We went through the process with the city—we filed, questioned, and obliged the many “hoops”—and eventually anchored ourselves in what we believed would become the future home of Two Trees MKE.
We were granted a permit to operate as a “place of worship,” which truthfully fit our mission: creating a place to grow SELF-love, awareness, and respect for the people among us.
During the summer of 2022, we gathered on Sundays and walked along the nearby Menomonee River and through Jacobus Park’s nature preserve—finding our place of worship within nature, right in the middle of the city.
Just as we were evaluating our future in the building as a city-permitted church home, we received a call from an interested buyer with an offer we couldn’t refuse.
Selling the building did not change the trajectory of our mission. We were still in the watering stages—and we came to understand that a building wasn’t necessary for us to GROW.
A little personal background: I’ve worked in real estate for 22 years as an agent, entrepreneur, and investor—rebuilding and selling residential properties. A commercial space was an entirely new challenge, and I was excited when I found this building. It was perfect for learning, and a learning experience it certainly became.
Since selling the property, there has rarely been a week when someone hasn’t visited this page after passing the building and seeing our logo.
I am happy to announce that our logo will be covered this week. We will no longer remain a visible remnant of a project that once was. Instead, we are closing that chapter with gratitude—and excitement for what is still to come for us as an organization.
For everyone who has wondered, messaged, and inquired along the way: Yes, the building is occupied. It is privately owned and will remain a private space.
