Just a relaxed fireside chat about the Losi 5IVE‑T, with most of the conversation focused on its body panels and how they hold up to real use.
The 5IVE‑T 2.0 body is made from polycarbonate, commonly called Lexan in the RC world. It’s tough and flexible, but hard impacts, bends, and scratches can leave cloudy white stress marks and rough scuffs behind.
Something I remembered from my dirt-bike days is that damaged plastic can sometimes be brought back by lightly smoothing the rough areas and carefully applying heat. In this video, I work on the Losi body and show how controlled heat from a heat gun can reduce some of those white stress marks and renew the appearance of the plastic.
You definitely want to use low heat, keep the gun moving, and avoid staying in one spot—polycarbonate can warp, bubble, or damage the paint if it gets too hot. This won’t repair cracks or major structural damage, but it can make an old, well-used body look considerably better.
