I know I’ve posted about this event before, but I wanted to put it out there again as October 4th gets closer because we would really love to see this grow into something bigger for our local community.

Fishtery is hosting a Fish and Plant Swap on October in Mineral, Virginia, with the goal of bringing together freshwater fish keepers from our area.

There are so many people locally who keep fish, breed their own, grow aquarium plants, maintain beautiful planted tanks, rescue fish, or simply love the hobby.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find other people nearby who share that same interest.

We want to change that.

This event is meant to be a place where people can meet other hobbyists, make connections, exchange fish and plants, share experiences, ask questions, learn from one another, and hopefully make some new friends along the way.

We are looking for local freshwater fish breeders, aquarium plant cultivators, hobbyists, vendors, and anyone who would like to come be part of building this community.

You do not have to be a breeder or vendor to participate. If you keep a freshwater aquarium and want to meet other people who do too, we want you there.

We will also have a silent auction, raffle, and giveaways, and we are still welcoming local businesses and hobbyists who would like to contribute.

Those things are a fun addition to the event, but the heart of what we are trying to create is much bigger than that.

We want to build a place where freshwater hobbyists in our area know they can come together.

So if you keep fish, grow aquarium plants, breed anything freshwater, have an aquarium related business, or just love the hobby, please comment below or reach out to Fishtery.

We would love to know who is interested and what you would like to see at an event like this.

And please share this with your fellow fish keepers. You never know who in your community has a fish room, a planted tank, or a lifelong love of aquariums sitting right around the corner.
