HIRED! You may recall I posted recently that my daughter has been looking for a full time nanny position. I'm thrilled to announce that she has successfully landed a job starting August 31st, taking take of a baby and toddler. Thanks to all who shared her information and/or got in touch with her. The positive power of social media!

My daughter Charlotte MacMartin is a career nanny with 18 years of experience caring for babies and children. She has been with her current family for seven years; it is now time for her to find her next full time nanny position. Despite working with an agency and various social media groups and listings, she has not yet found her next family.

So Facebook friends, if you need a nanny, please get in touch with her. If you don't need a nanny, we would appreciate you passing along her information to friends who may. Or if you need babysitting or short term help, she would love to talk with you.

As her mom, I know I am biased but I can truly say she is gifted with children. She is so patient and loving, and helps children become their best selves.--Lisa

I have decided to fully end Heartfelt. My plan to sell craft kits and supplies online sounded good on paper and allowed me to hold onto a small part of my business as the physical store closed. But after years of crafting with families in my cozy shop, a virtual presence really isn’t satisfying to me. And it’s expensive—the fees for the website, accounting software, and other services worked when I had the sales volume from the shop but do not now. And there are other behind-the-scenes financial realities too that have brought me to this decision.

The website will go offline before the end of this month. I am planning a last tag sale at my house on Saturday August 29th (weather permitting) to clear out my remaining supplies, kits, some furniture and display pieces, and other odds and ends. I will confirm the date, times, and location here on the Heartfelt page soon.

Thank you for your support of Heartfelt, for sharing your children with me, for your friendship and sense of community. It has meant more to me than you can imagine.

Continuing the trip down memory lane. I was thrilled to purchase the vintage cash desk and large shelving unit from Linden Hills Florist when they closed in 2016. These pieces were perfect for my shop. The shelving unit had glass doors--I removed the doors on the right and left sides so I could use the open shelving for craft samples. Then I painted the glass on the remaining center doors with chalkboard paint, given us much needed closed storage and a place for marketing messages and reminders. When Heartfelt closed, I sold the two pieces to a woman who was opening a retail space north of the cities, a general store with an old-fashioned feel.

Adjusting to life after closing the shop. It all feels quite strange--I guess no surprise after 15 years. I've been working on a new website for my craft kits and felting supplies (should launch soon) and finding storage for the supplies I brought home from the store. I'm even dreaming up some new craft kits. Needle felted penguins anyone?
