The other week, we got a surprise visit from the amazing team at IKEA IKEA USA Minneapolis. ❤️
A year ago, I was in the middle of waiting for our custom closets to arrive from overseas when everything changed. Because of the tariffs, I was unable to receive the shipment. It was a huge financial loss, and suddenly I had an empty store with no closets.
We had planned to open in June, but without the closets, I was forced to find another solution. After weeks of pivoting and problem-solving, we didn’t officially open until August.
That’s when I met Sanya at the Minneapolis IKEA, and I quickly learned something I wish more small business owners knew: IKEA genuinely invests in and supports small businesses.
I was paired with a professional designer, Niraj who helped bring my vision to life. He created a 3D rendering of the store, and when everything was finished, it looked almost exactly like the original design. It was incredible to see.
As we celebrate Shop My Closet’s first anniversary this weekend, I’ve been reflecting on everyone who helped make this dream possible.
A heartfelt thank you to Sanya and the entire IKEA Minneapolis team for believing in small businesses and helping entrepreneurs like me create beautiful spaces for our communities.
