This week, challenge yourself to listen to and play a style of music that's new to you!

🎹 Movie Soundtracks

Listen to some examples and think about what you hear: What do you notice about the rhythm? What makes this style unique? How can you imitate those sounds on your instrument?

Exploring different styles helps you become a more versatile musician and can introduce you to music you never knew you'd love. There’s a whole world of music out there, so go discover something new! ✨

🎶☀️ Summer Music Week 7: Learn a Song by Ear ☀️🎶

We spend a lot of time reading music in band and orchestra, but some of the best music-making happens when we simply listen!

Choose a favorite song and see if you can learn part of it just by listening and experimenting on your instrument:
🎵 Start with a simple melody.
🎵 Listen carefully and try to match the pitches.
🎵 Don't worry about getting it perfect right away!

Learning music by ear is a great way to strengthen your listening skills, improve intonation, and build the confidence to recognize and correct mistakes on your own.

Grab a friend or two and make music together this week!

🎼 Quiz each other on scales.
🎶 Perform something you've been working on independently.
