We’re excited to share this video from our ND EHDI Family Support and Engagement Liaison, Marly Schnabel, BS, sharing Rhett’s family story.

“When Rhett was born, his parents had no reason to suspect anything was wrong until newborn screening revealed a hearing difference. That early discovery opened doors to early intervention, resources, and a community ready to support.”

Rhett’s story is a powerful reminder of why newborn hearing screening and early follow-up matter. Early identification can help connect children and families with the resources, services, and support they need during those important first years.

The North Dakota Dual Sensory Project is pleased to announce the Fall 2026 courses from the “Open Hands, Open Access” (OHOA) modules.
These online training modules, developed by the National Center on Deafblindness (NCDB), are designed to provide training about various aspects of deafblindness education and support. These fully online courses provide practical strategies for educating children and youth with deafblindness and other disabilities.
ND educators and professionals are eligible for a tuition reimbursement contingent on grant continuation funding.
