North Dakota Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (ND EHDI)

North Dakota Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program (ND EHDI) Welcome to the North Dakota Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (ND EHDI) program page! Our goal is to focus on all aspects of hearing health.

The ND EHDI program has been in operation since 2000. At that time, there was an increased emphasis placed on universal newborn hearing screening (UNHS). As programs evolved from UNHS into EHDI, an additional emphasis was placed on follow-up efforts thus requiring support for both birth screening and subsequent follow-up activities. This additional focus to reduce loss to documentation/loss to fol

low-up (LTD/LTF) has brought about the need to enlist additional program partners including audiologists, child health care providers, and early childhood programs while maintaining a strong birth screening program. Following an infant from birth through diagnosis and into early intervention requires ongoing diligence and a system bridging all medical and educational communities.

Before we start talking about conference sessions, speakers, and abstract submissions... let's start with one simple question.

What is EHDI?

Everything we do at the National EHDI Conference comes back to one shared mission: ensuring that infants and children with hearing loss are identified early and receive comprehensive, timely intervention and support services.

📍 As we look ahead to the 2027 National EHDI Conference in Bellevue, Washington, we'll be sharing more about the people, programs, and partnerships that make EHDI possible.

🎤 Breakout and Poster Abstract submissions are open through September 28! If you have research, innovative ideas, successful programs, or practical experiences to share, we'd love to hear from you.
