Time to start the finish today. SMOKEY ROSE, first pic, is a sample of the color I going for. I start by applying a black dye to the quilted maple. I’ll let it dry over night then tomorrow I’ll sand it back. Leaving traces of the black in the softer darker areas. Then I’ll apply a medium brown dye. Then I’ll apply a very thinned out red dye. Then I spray a black translucent to opaque black burst.

Output jack hole drilled. Anchors for pups installed. Cover plate for control cavity made. Tuner and bridge holes drilled. Tuners and bridge mounted. Nut 80% complete. Working on control layout with in the cavity. Should have her ready to finish when we get back from the beach.




24 Jumbo Stainless Steel frets glued in, leveled, crowned and polished. Neck joints 95% complete. Now for finial shaping...

24 Jumbo Stainless Steel frets glued in, leveled, crowned and polished. Neck joints 95% complete. Now for finial shaping/carving on the top, 5 holes for tuners and mounting the bridge and she’ll be ready to string up for a test drive.
